I’m doing my best to stay as chill as possible over here. As you can imagine, that doesn’t come naturally to me. On an unrelated note, drop your book recommendations below 😂

One thing I’m realizing is that when I’m forced to stay out of the kitchen, I can’t help but spend time dreaming up new things to try when I get back. For example… chocolate chip crookie bars? Almond croissant/cookie bars? Both sound pretty amazing to me. Buttery cookie dough, flaky croissant layers, decadent almond filling. Sign me up!

I’m also toying with the idea of a breakfast cookie. Not “health food” (let’s not get carried away), but something a little more hearty and filling. The kind of thing you could grab on your way out the door, enjoy with your coffee, or maybe even toss in your gym bag for a pre-workout snack. Not that you can’t also do that with a snickerdoodle 💁🏼‍♀️

I’ve also been brainstorming merch ideas (“not your basic batch” t-shirt, anyone?) and I can’t wait to share some of those with y’all, too.

Thank you for hanging in there with me while I heal. I have a follow-up appointment next week, and hopefully I’ll get a little more clarity on when I can get back to doing what I love. In the meantime, my focus is on healing so this doesn’t become a bigger issue or make an unwelcome return down the road.

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Normally I’d be pulling cookies out of the oven and filling the coolers today, but this week looks a little different. I have a back procedure scheduled for Friday, and I’m doing my best to listen to what my body is telling me, even when I don’t particularly like what it’s saying. Trust me when I say that being out of the kitchen is not my favorite thing.

Thank you for all the texts, messages, check-ins, prayers, and encouragement. Y’all have made me feel incredibly loved, and I don’t take that for granted. Several people have asked how they can help, and a sweet friend finally convinced me to (begrudgingly) share a meal train. I have had so many kind messages, texts, and check-ins over the past couple of weeks, and several people have asked if there’s anything they can do to help while I recover from back surgery later this week.

If you know me in real life, you know this is not my comfort zone. I would much rather be the one helping than the one needing help. In fact, I’ve said “no thanks, I’ve got it” more times than I can count, but a close friend of mine (the same friend who pushed me to start this cookie business years ago) finally convinced me this morning that it’s okay to let people show up for you sometimes.

So, for those who have reached out and asked how to help, a Meal Train has been set up. Please know that this is absolutely not expected, and I don’t want anyone to feel obligated in any way. Your messages and well wishes have already meant so much to me.

But if you’ve been looking for a way to help, here’s one. Learning to accept support is not a lesson that comes naturally to me, but I’m realizing that I have an incredible community around me, and it’s okay to lean on it when I need to.

Just a quick little Batch update…

First, thank y’all for all the check-ins, messages, and well wishes over the past week. You sure know how to make a girl feel loved. ❤️

Some of you may know I’ve got quite the history of back issues, and after several weeks of trying injections and other conservative measures, I’ve made the decision to move forward with spine surgery next week. Fun fact: this will be my third, so at this point I feel like I should earn some sort of punch card.

Because of that, Batch Bakehouse will be taking a short break while I focus on resting, healing, and following doctor’s orders (which may be the hardest part).

I’m not going anywhere, and I fully intend to be back making cookies as soon as I’m able. Thank you for your patience, your support, and for sticking with me through this process.

I’ll keep y’all posted, and hopefully I’ll be back in the kitchen feeling a whole lot better very soon!

Hi friends. Just wanted to give y’all a quick update since Wednesdays are usually cookie days around here.

Unfortunately, there won’t be cookies tomorrow. As much as I would love to spend today baking, I currently cannot stand in the kitchen without intense pain, so my body is forcing me to take a pause whether I like it or not. This whole situation has been incredibly frustrating and humbling because I’m not very good at slowing down or asking for help, and I genuinely want to bake for y’all. Silver lining here is the fact that I truly love what I do!

I’m really hopeful a procedure I have scheduled for tomorrow will help get me back to normal life very soon. Thank you for your support 🩷
