Shadow Puppets this year was a 3 day project. Working together in small groups to write a story, create moving cardboard characters and scenery pieces, and put on a Shadow Puppet Show is one of those challenges that feels extra rewarding after the performance.
In prolonged group work projects, members are able to share their ideas, work thru challenges, have time off to refine ideas with fresh perspectives, and cross the finish line together.

This year for our science project fair we focused on answering the question "How does it work?"
Each kid got to choose a subject to explain, and over the course of a couple weeks (or months), they researched and created a project board to display their findings.
We always start these project fair weeks out in small groups, where the kids are first able to get comfortable presenting amongst a group of peers. Here they can answer questions and spend some time doing an interactive activity. This helps them gain confidence in their presentation before we have our Project Fair night, where we invite our friends and family to come see what we have been working on.
Getting to present in small intimate spaces without major time constraints, as well as sharing knowledge in a larger, less familiar environment, are both experiences that hold value in developing public speaking skills, confidence, and adaptability. Practicing these skills side by side, twice a year, and over time allows for self paced and community supported growth in these areas.

Snacksgiving is a day where the kids work together and try their hands at party hosting! They work in groups to prepare a beautiful spread of unique snacks and floral arrangements. This year, in lieu of entertainment, the kids wrote a few conversation starters to encourage more quality time and connection between their guests. Once the tables were set, parents and siblings were invited to join in on this warm and cozy together time, and sample all the delicious goodies they had prepared for us.

Our annual visit to the pumpkin patch is a favorite of many amongst the children and parents alike. The gorgeous weather this year made for happy harvesting.

Welcome to Curious World, where we have (sometimes wacky) scenarios to solve. Here the kids are practicing STEM skills and teamwork to transport stranded animal crackers over a crevasse to safety.
