The shapes used in cluster tools don't need to be the same. Combining shapes is a great way to make your punching process more efficient.

Many industries use stainless steel in their products for appearance or design. The material is usually covered with a plastic film to protect it from damage during the manufacturing process. Usually, the film is manually cut to reveal material that will be processed at a later stage. Mate’s Sheetmarker™ tool can be used for more than marking or etching sheet metal. Using the brass film cutting insert (MATE00485) specifically designed to work with harder materials, fabricators can use Sheetmarker to cut the film with the punch press. This not only eliminates an extra manual step, it also helps ensure that increasingly expensive materials aren’t damaged from manual processing. Simply program the tool to cut the areas to be removed by the machine like any other operation

The third in our embossing tools series. Braille signage ensures people who cannot see may safely access and use facilities. Such signage is frequently made using metal. In this example, the forming tool was used to emboss braille elevator button markers for floor numbers, door controls and emergency notification.

The first in a series on embossing tools. Many sheetmetal parts feature decorative patterns. In this initial example an embossed relief tool was used to add depth and texture to an otherwise flat sheet. The embossed pattern also provides some additional strength to the panel.

The second in our embossing tools series. Simply combining a special shape with a forming tool can create unique features. Here, obround and rectangle shapes were combined with an embossing tool to create an anti-slip pattern for floor grates. +emboss

Uneraseable. Use a cold forged emboss to create a permanent, explanatory message to add value to the end product.

Normally, cluster tools are though of as having the same shape, such as the typical rack cluster shown on the bottom right. Think beyond the norm. Combine different shapes and sizes in cluster tools for specific applications or creating unique patterns.

Thinking big! Normally we think of hybrid threadforms as a replacement for tapping. They can also be used for bigger diameter applications. This customer in Sweden used it for cable entries on electrical cabinets. big

Get your parts into perfect alignment. Here is an example of using a shearbutton tool to form a small positioning tab that was created for a customer's specific design. The tab created by the shearbutton tool is used to pre-position and align parts for easier assembly. In this design, the rounded top makes it easier to find the hole to accurately position a small straight part.
