I have had some parents asking what they can do to help their students with EOC reviews...I have EOC Reviews in Quizlet, there are also Study Island reviews and you can always google NC Released tests for the test they are taking and go over the questions with them (they even have the answers).

Well the streets of Andrews are cleaner today thanks to AMS students. We picked up parade trash as well as other trash from Burger Basket to McDonalds. We also found a $20 bill that we donated to Toys for Tots!

We had a great day today in the Science Explorers after school club working with electroplating. We plated pennies with zinc which made them silver and then heated them to fuse the copper and zinc to make the alloy bronze!

Blew up some more pumpkins 🎃 today in science club. I let Jacob do the honors...it's funny you can tell he's a new teacher he still has nerves and jumps at loud noises 😂

The Andrews a police Department came in today to give my Forensics class a lesson in fingerprinting. These guys always do such a great job and are so willing to come into my classroom to help me out. Sometimes they get called out early for a call or sometimes we have to reschedule because they get caught up in something and sometimes they come in on their day off just to help us out! The kids had a great time and as always learned a lot and had fun! Thank you APD for all your help! We had a great time fingerprinting today!!!
Making flying ghosts 👻 today in STEM/STEAM! We didn't get videos of the ones that flew all around the room but you get the idea. It was cool seeing the kids analyze what worked and what didn't and retrying to do a better one!

We did our a lab on chemotaxis today in Biology. The students got to see how some pens have an artificial pheromone that attracts termites. The termites will actually follow the trails of the pens. Here are their results...

Science Explorers after school club today...Learning about electrons, ionization and electrical currents with the Van Der Graaf generator then we sat off a few of our bottle rockets. We had to tweak the rocket launcher but now it's all ready to go to shoot all of their rockets they designed off on Tuesday! So much fun!!!

Science Explorers club has been up a running strong for two weeks now. The kids have already performed flame tests to examine what elements were present, raced paper planes, worked with the Van Der Graaf generator, tested pH with a red cabbage indicator and common substances, and designed bottle rockets. Next, finish bottle rockets and shoot them off! 🚀

It was dress like a teacher day for the students and dress like a student for the teachers today at AMS. I picked to dress like Joey Lawless! (He always has cool science shirts)

Mary Hughes from the MMC lab came over to our Forensics class today to help us with blood typing. The students had a great time being "lab technicians" lol! They did a great job. Most of the students were A+, we had a couple of O+, one O- and one AB- (the most rare)!
