As Earth Day arrives again on Friday, April 22, Metro Transit is observing the occasion by powering the all-electric vehicles in its fleet with wind energy from Xcel Energy's WindSource® program.
While taking any of our transit routes is always a greener and more sustainable option, this is an annual effort to highlight the energy-efficiency of METRO Blue and Green Line light rail trains and METRO C Line buses. Also, a fully electric bus will be running up and down Nicollet Ave. from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Earth Day. Free to ride, so give it a try!
The ongoing Zero Emissions Bus Transition Plan will greatly increase the number of battery electric buses in our fleet. There are solar arrays at several Park & Ride lots, and other sustainability innovations have led to a marked increase in energy-efficiency at Metro Transit bus garages.
Thank you for helping Metro Transit celebrate Earth Day by riding with us! metrotransit.org/earth-day
