A prolonged winter weather event will impact the Cook Inlet region tonight through Tuesday night with two distinct rounds of snowfall. The first round of snowfall will bring light accumulations to most of Southcentral Alaska tonight before easing off Monday morning. Snowfall will pick up again Monday afternoon and continue through Tuesday night for Anchorage & Mat-Su Valley. Snow may be easily lofted along area roadways, reducing visibilities for the Monday morning commute.

Forecast’s calling for another round of wind in the bowl—nothing wild, but steady gusts in the 20–24 mph range.
That kind of wind will sandblast any snow buildup and turn it straight into ice.
