I’m technically still hibernating from social media... but I heard there is a global strike starting tomorrow and wanted to give this offering to those seeking ways to protest spiritually. I found this liturgy in one of my books* and I invite you to pray it with me and live it’s words every single one of these next seven days. Striking is a spiritual practice too.

Earlier this year I made a promise to myself that once my virtual book tour was done I would take time to rest and reflect away from the public eye and the attention economy. I am entering my time of rest and reflection. I need it for my own personal endurance. my eyes, my heart, my every effort will be focused on Palestine and our collective liberation. I do this because I believe in the vision for our future, in us, and in our collective endurance.
My friends, let us use what we need to endure in this moment and the next. The future is waiting to greet us.

It’s not a good thing when it’s not enough. Do more. Demand more. 🍉

It is both a good thing and not enough. Do not stop demanding more. 🍉

I sit with every horror we witness and don’t know what to say. I’m letting the ancestors guide my words and my rage.

People call me a brave writer. I don’t know if I’d use that language about myself. I write things that leave me in despair. It doesn’t make me brave, it makes me desperate for a different world and willing to say the hardest things.
What makes me able to do so is having a daily reflective journaling practice that was created by Audre Lorde, entitled “questionnaire to oneself.” This is one of the critical capacity building practices I need to unapologetically show up in the world.
Earlier this year I created these graphics for folks to have access to the questionnaire via their smartphones. The images are meant to be your Lock Screen and/or homepages so that you can carve out time for these reflections whenever it serves you.
This is an offering meant to help you build capacity to continue stewarding the traumas set before us and having the ability to say something.
I put the whole image up on my stories for you to download/screenshot.

I wrote a new essay in my substack. It’s about two women who are doing our best to bear witness to each other and the world. It’s also about the connections we make in the most mundane places and how that, too, propels us into remembering our duties to care for each other.
Swipe 👉🏾 to read quotes, discover the books I’m reading about Gaza, and see a photo I liked from a recent protest (I can’t remember whose IG I found it from, so sorry!)
