With the puckish humor of Fran Lebowitz and the keen inventiveness of Lydia Davis, Sofi Stambo’s debut collection leans into curiosity, family, and the old-world bonds that draw her motley characters together.
From Bulgaria to America, PEOPLE WHO LIVE ALONE TALK TOO MUCH pulls at the threads of daily life, unwinding the ordinary into scenes of hilarity, introspection, and surprising connection.

Happy pub day to HOME IS A DOOR WE CARRY by Constantin Satüpo ()!
Did you know that every year, millions of children have to leave their homes behind? Sometimes a flood or a drought makes their homes unsafe. Sometimes a war breaks out and forces whole communities to flee.
When two small children set out to find a safer place to live, they decide to do the impossible: they carry their homes with them. One child uses a magic spell to shrink their house; the other’s house becomes so big and strong it can protect them and everyone else who needs help, too.
Purchase your copy of HOME at your favorite indie bookstore or order online on our website (🔗 in bio)! A portion of proceeds from the sales of this book will be donated to the International Rescue Committee ().
We were also so excited to see HOME IS A DOOR WE CARRY featured on 's April Hot Off the Press reading list. Discover all the picks here: http://bit.ly/1dCTqYI

We’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered with the Harmony Hotel of the Harmony Projects to launch a new residency for our writers and translators.
The Harmony Hotel () is a sustainably-minded property on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, built around a mission that goes beyond traditional hospitality—one rooted in care for place, community, and the people who pass through. Its artist residency program hosts thinkers across disciplines during Nosara’s green season—a quieter stretch that tends to suit focused work. Residents stay and dine at Harmony Hotel for the duration of their visit, with access to various amenities. In return, they offer something to the local community: a workshop, talk, performance, or exhibition.
Through a partnership with Restless Books, a selected author or translator receives a 1–2 week residency at the Harmony Hotel. Both organizations share a commitment to voices that expand cultural dialogue—this residency gives the writer or translator time to focus on their work and a place to share it.
In the coming weeks, we will reveal the inaugural resident for 2026, so stay tuned!
