For anyone who 1. loves the look of my little dragon egg bag I carry with me everywhere and 2. loves to crochet, I have good news—in January I'll be teaching a workshop on crocodile stitch at The Knittery Nook & Fibre Co.! We will be working on a pair of fingerless mitts with dragon-inspired flair. 🐉🐲

Crocodile stitch creates a unique scaled texture that will add a touch of fantasy (or pineapple-y-ness) to your crochet pieces. Register at the link below to reserve your spot. The workshop fee includes 2 hours of class time + 1 skein of Cascade 220 Superwash Wave, a machine-washable wool with a built-in gradient. I can't wait to craft with you!

User Interview Survey - Houseplant Diagnosis 12/18/2023

Hello everyone! I am conducting a survey as a part of my User Experience Certificate Program. As part of my final project, I will be building a mobile app and responsive website that enables users to diagnose issues with their houseplants.

This survey is collecting information about your experiences with houseplants and how you approach problems you encounter while caring for them. It should take 10-15 minutes to complete. If you would like to participate, please submit your responses via the following link: https://forms.gle/3i2MoHwMjpCT27LJ7

Thank you for your participation! I'm trying to get as many responses as possible, so please share with your networks!

Happy Small Business Saturday! Today is a day devoted to showing your local business owners some love. Last Christmas, I was able to do all of my shopping on Main Street in Ames, with click-and-mortar businesses, and at art shows and Farmer's Markets. If I can do it, you can too!

Dollars spent at small local businesses stay in our communities and have a direct impact on our shared prosperity. Our towns, cities, and states are better when we know our neighbors. So hit the streets, a local maker fair, or shop from an online indie creator and use your holiday shopping list to build community!

I've published my first pattern to Ravelry! Of all of the things I thought would be my debut pattern, 'functional, simple, and versatile watch band' was not anywhere close to the list.

This little FitBit watch band is my solution to keeping it wearable after the clips that hold the band on completely snapped off. I searched the world's largest online marketplace and could only find replacements that had me cosplaying as a Pokémon trainer about to Mega Evolve my Venusaur. Not quite the look I'm going for, and also quite cumbersome.

This pattern is available for FREE and requires knowledge of basic crochet stitches. It is designed to fit a FitBit Charge 4, but should also work for the Charge 3 and 5. It's fully customizable to your specific wrist size, and uses up small amounts of yarn leftovers.

Take a gander, add it to your favorites, and feel free to make a few for yourself, even if your watch band isn't broken!

Ya-ha-ha! You found me!

Lost a few weeks of my life to being sick, but gained a bunch of interactions with the adorable koroks of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This little spirit is now hiding somewhere in my house. I think amid my winter time plant jungle?

Commissions are open until December 1! If you'd like to give the gift of art this holiday season—watercolor, crochet, knitting, needlefelting, and other mixed media—let's connect! Now, off to find that korok...

I spent some time in nature today releasing my foster crawdad, Crabcake, back into the creek he came from. I hope your Labor Day is also filled with the same sense of rest, change, and exploration.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Beautiful Land Market yesterday. I'll see you again on October 1st for some spooky fun at the last outdoor market of the season! Hopefully a little closer to sweater weather 🎃👻🍂
