Today, Superintendent Sanders had the opportunity to meet with the Ignite Academy Board to discuss the future of Ignite and strengthen the partnership between Ignite Academy and Sumter County Schools. The conversation focused on expanding opportunities for students, enhancing educational experiences, and creating strong pathways from the classroom to college, careers, and workforce success.

It was a productive meeting filled with positive energy, collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing what is best for the students of Sumter County. Exciting next steps are on the horizon as we continue working together to provide innovative opportunities and brighter futures for all students.

As we concluded Days 3–5 of the GLISI Leadership Boot Camp, we reflect on a week filled with learning, collaboration, and growth. Through engaging discussions, team activities, and shared experiences, we strengthened our leadership capacity, challenged our thinking, and built meaningful connections with fellow district leaders.
We left inspired, equipped with new strategies, and committed to leading with purpose as we continue serving our students, staff, and communities. This experience reinforced the power of teamwork, shared vision, and intentional leadership. We are excited to apply what we have learned as we work to put it back together to continue to create transformational opportunities and positive outcomes for every student we serve.

GLISI was a truly refreshing and inspiring experience for our team! The opportunity to collaborate, reflect, engage in critical thinking, and strengthen our leadership capacity has energized us for the work ahead.

We are excited about the future of Sumter County Schools and the possibilities that lie before us. The 2026-2027 school year will be a year of growth, innovation, excellence, and greatness for our students, staff, and community.

☀️🚌 SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOLS SUMMER FEEDING UPDATE 🚌☀️

Our Summer Feeding Bus Routes will be running today, and we are excited to continue serving meals to children throughout our community!

📍 We have 6 new stops this week, we added a stop in Plains, GA as well as a few more that needed added.

📍Signs will be placed at each bus stop location to help families easily identify the designated meal distribution sites.

✅ Important Reminder:
• The child must be present to receive a meal bag.
• Meal bags are provided at scheduled bus stops.
• Students attending summer school today will receive a weekend meal bag before leaving school.

We are committed to ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals throughout the summer. Please review today's bus stop schedule and be at your stop a few minutes early.

Enjoying dinner with the GLISI team! This experience has provided an outstanding opportunity for team building, critical thinking, collaboration, and deep data analysis. Grateful for the meaningful conversations, shared learning, and collective commitment to strengthening leadership and improving outcomes for those we serve. Day 2 of GLISI Base Camp exceeded expectations as we continued strengthening our team and bringing our theme, "Putting IT All Back Together," to life. We began exploring our problem of practice, digging deeper to identify its root causes and gain a clearer understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead. The energy, collaboration, and shared commitment to growth made for another impactful day of learning and teamwork!

Enjoying some time at GLISI with an incredible team after a full day of professional learning, leadership development, and meaningful conversations centered on our “why.” As we reflect on the work ahead, we remain committed to returning to Sumter County Schools with renewed energy, fresh ideas, and a shared vision for making our district an even better place for our students, staff, families, and community.
