Tuesday Worship 6.9.26

We began our new series Beloved Community. Community begins in a body, a person and grows outward to connect with others.

So the question for you this week is what do you look for in community? Why do you want to connect with the Confluence?

Annual Conference 2026 in Peoria has come and gone. There was a lot of worship, dancing, legislation, and out right silly shenanigans. The Confluence was well represented by Pastor Kyle, Pastor Sarah, Cassidy, Peggy, and our friend Pastor Mike from our partner church, The Connection. Here is to another year of ministry past and looking forward to another year of imagination and possibilities with the Confluence!

Tuesday worship highlights:

If sanctuary means safe space and not a building, then the space we create and hold for one another holds special meaning. We discussed what our safe places are and who we see as our safe spaces.

Who or what is your safe spaces? Leave a comment below to share your safe spaces.

Last night was a great gathering for worship. We had a guest liturgist, surprise visitor who helped lead worship, and kids who always help us to stay present and never take ourselves too seriously.

Memorial Day worship offered a call to repentance for the harm the Church has fostered for combat veterans. Jason Burkett wrote “A Combat Veteran’s Liturgy” which included Mark Twain’s “War Prayer”, the use of his uniform as metaphor for what is seen and unseen, and the following “Prayer of Resistance”:

Our allegiance is to Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Therefore, we reject violence, in ALL its forms and fashions, we repent and seek forgiveness from God and from our veteran Brothers and Sisters, for sins our nation ordered them to commit on our behalf. Help us to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before You. -Jason Burkett 2026
