Our garden is in full bloom, the farm and the animals are embracing the beautiful days. We are open daily from 10am to 5pm.
We shear our alpacas, llamas and sheep every year and they look so different… a glimpse into the life of the farm… enjoy!
Bamboo moved to Cheyenne’s enclosure to be next to Boots and Lance. He loves it. The corral we used to give some love to Cheyenne can now be used to be closer to Bamboo. Since the fire in 2020 and the evacuation, Bamboo had to be separated from the African animals and approaching him was difficult. We hope to change that 💚🙏🏻💚
The 3 ducks Agnes found on the road one night are doing well. No-one claimed them therefore, we built a pond so they can enjoy their life with us. Your visit helps us care for them. See you soon!
Our watusis are so impressive with their big horns… We call them our gentle giants… beautiful weekend ahead, come visit and feed them some hay… Your visit helps the sanctuary continue its work…
Saying Goodbye to Hula 💔
This week, our baby emu visited Good Business San Diego on K**I — and something special happened. Producer Hula Ramos was there, everyone fell in love with our little guy, and the team suggested the perfect new name for him: Hula. We’d actually been hoping to give him a new name for a while, one that felt as sweet as he was — we just hadn’t found the right fit yet.
We wish we could share Hula’s new name under happier circumstances. Yesterday, we had to say goodbye to him.
For two weeks, he was making real progress — gaining weight, growing stronger, healing well. But new X-ray results showed his body had taken a turn we didn’t see coming. The tendons and ligaments in his leg were beyond repair without surgery, and his right leg had a slight twist that would have kept him from ever standing steadily on both legs as he grew.
We did everything we could for him. We’re heartbroken it wasn’t enough.
Thank you to everyone who followed his story, cheered him on, and sent love his way. He was so deeply loved in his short life, and that love mattered.
Rest easy, sweet Hula. 🪶
