Any of my Driver buddies, this is to you! Truck Driver Appreciation Week
A lil update on some recent loads.
Bama Bound!
Out to west Texas with one skid. Back with another.
I haven’t posted in a while. Picked these up for a lil day trip from Oklahoma back to Texas.
Get’m direct from the shipper. Blessed with 18 out and almost that many back. Would be great to have a load back every time… oh well, still blessed.
Four loads out to New Mexico this week. Contract fulfilled one week ahead of time. Start another contract of 18 trucks next week hopefully. Lord, help this happen. We need it! Rolling…!
Father God-please bless my husband Bizkett Buffington as he travels across the country in order to support and provide for our family. Give him safe travel and protection along the way. Give him strength and patience as he leaves us and travels far from home. Help him to be safe on the road from accidents, incidents and illness. Help him find good, safe places to rest along the way. Amen.
Right? Lol
"My oldest recently asked me what I got for Christmas when I was a kid.
So I told him. I told him that I honestly don’t recall.
I mean, I remember the bike with the little white basket and pink streamers flowing from the handlebars. And of course I remember the puppy. But, to be honest, that’s pretty much it.
And it’s not because I was some wise, awesome, non-materialistic kid. I loved a good present, and I’m sure I begged for all the things in the Sears catalog.
It’s simply that what sticks out to me most are the moments.
Decorating the tree with my favorite Hallmark ornaments, Christmas music ringing through the house.
Sledding down the neighbors’ driveway.
Sipping hot cocoa from mugs adorned with snowmen and snowflakes and Santa.
Baking Christmas candy and cookies to deliver to neighbors and friends.
Watching Christmas movies just about every night from Thanksgiving ‘til Christmas Eve.
Driving around town in search of the best lights, singing Christmas carols along the way.
Because the stuff?
It fades. It breaks. It gets lost. It loses its sparkle and shine and excitement.
But those memories? Those moments?
That’s life. And joy. And family. And love.
And that’ll last a lifetime."

This.
"I cut someone off in traffic yesterday.
I'm a good driver, but I pulled out right in front of this guy, who of course leaned on his horn... hard.
Then, as luck would have it, we pulled into the SAME store parking lot. Yay!
So I knew it was coming…
He arranged it so he would be standing in front of his vehicle as I rolled by slowly, looking for a spot to park.
There he was, middle finger in the air ( big surprise ) shoving it aggressively toward me, while yelling.
I braked, threw it into reverse, came up beside him, rolled down my window, and... just listened.
I let him rant.
'LEARN HOW TO % #%€ing DRIVE FOR #% #!SAKE!'
That was probably the nicest thing he said in all of it.
When he was done, I said in an even tone that I have perfected for escalations at home:
'You have a right to be pi**ed. I cut you off, and I'm really sorry. I'm usually a pretty good driver, but that was a really stupid mistake and I'm sorry I put us both in danger.'
He sort of stuttered, still mad, but visibly trying to process what I'd just said.
Then I said 'Thank you for being on the ball, and saving us BOTH today with your quick reflexes.'
He literally mumbled 'Geez, just be careful..." and he had his head down and was still adjusting to someone being kind to him... someone who he had just called every name in the book, and F bombed about 500 times in public... loudly.
It did shake me up, but not the way it did him.
I've found that I'm so much more prepared for the unexpected than the average person.
I've also learned, through my son, that everything is a teachable moment, that one should always act with grace and good intention, and that whenever possible, give someone a chance to show their best side.
And that's what he did.
I was pushing my cart around the store, and all of a sudden there’s a tap on my shoulder.
It's angry dude.
Only he isn't angry, he’s humble.
'You said sorry to me, but I'm the one who owes you an apology. I had a really bad morning, some bad news at work.
Thank you for reminding me that everyone makes mistakes, including me.
I acted really badly calling you names and stuff. I'm really sorry for that.'
'Thank you,' I said, and smiled.
Then he smiled too, we told each other 'have a nice day' and I think we both probably did just that.
Because we BOTH stepped out of our comfort zone to thank someone else for their actions.
And it felt... good.
My son taught me that. He has taught me patience, and grace.
He has taught me that however bad things may be at the moment, there is always something to learn from it, and a chance to do it better the next time."
