Analyzed a strong game between Timothy and Shankar from the MVP Chess K–12 Quads in March.

Queen’s Gambit Declined. The Rolls Royce of chess openings.

Big lesson: time matters. Development and tempo in the opening decide a lot. Fall behind early and it’s hard to recover.

Instructive game and great effort from both players ♟️

Round 2 of the Weekly Swiss is in the books.

We saw a few upsets last night and one player scored his first US Chess rated win! Always great to see.

I also got to play in my own tournament for the first time. Long time coming.

Round 3 is next Wednesday, 3/18. A few spots are still available for late joins.

Round 1 of the Weekly Swiss is complete.

The first round of a Swiss is a bit like March Madness. Lower-rated players get a shot at tougher competition and a chance to rise to the challenge.

The higher-rated players won last night, but the games were competitive across the board. Round 2 is on March 11!
