Upcoming independent artist from Alexandria, La with dreams of making it big. My name is Sleepo Holden. My artist name is Sleepo. That was my family. A few yrs.
Got the name from my friend Nash in High School. My artist music career officially started Oct. 2012 in Fort Smith, AR. But I first decided to become a artist when I lived in Alexandria, LA when i was about 15 years old. But i was still young and didn't have the proper tools or equipment to do any songs or beats so i decided to just hold off till i got a little older to be able to get a job and sa
ve enough money. Growing up i've always listened to music from different artists like my favorite Eminem, also 50 Cent, Boosie, Wild Yella, and Kevin Gates. I use to also write down my thoughts and write down my life story after being given up for adoption at 2 years old. A few weeks after my grand mother Maude Venson adopted me and my little brother, who was given up for adoption also at 3 months old, took us in as her owns. (Me, my grand mother who i call and know as mom, and my little brother Mookie). We never had much, so growing up poor was hard, and knowing your biological mother gave you up because she wasn't able to take good care of you was even harder and stressful than anything you could imagine. I felt i would just one day lose my mind because of all the hurtful things i thought about and how i seen kids at my school mother's and father's come to teacher conference meetings but i didn't have mines there so it was even harder to cope with. So i decided to write stories about my life but put it in another child's perspective or in 3rd person. I was basically the man of the house because my grand mother was disabled and my dad was always up state working to survive himself. He helped us out some too but it was enough so i worked 2 jobs to help maintain our home and things we needed. later when i turned 20 i found my biological mother moved to Fort Smith, Ar to meet her and try gaining that mother to son relationship we never had. Also i started writing music and got even deeper into the music industry and knew in my mind and in my heart that i was going to be a rapper. I pushed hard everyday to let the world know i was serious. I even got a job at Walmart so I'll be able to pay a producer for studio time. I jumped in music industry so i had to do everything on my owns with no help. Im talking about finding promotion, finding websites, finding shows, getting to know people, searching the web, etc. just doing everything in my power to be heard and to gain a nice fan base. After 2 years of self-promotion, finding and booking my own shows, meeting business A & R's, and just showing the world who i am, I've gained a big fan base that spreads through Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Since iv'e been rapping for 2 years iv'e had 21 shows. Iv'e opened up for Lil Wyte, Slim (from 112), Twista, Durrough, The Barcades, & Lil Flip (all in Fort Smith, Ar at Summer Jam June 13th&14th) , Trina (in Tulsa, OK April 18th at Club Haze), Foxx (in Fort Smith, Ar at Club Echo), Lil Flip again (in Joplin, MO and Fayetteville, Ar Oct. 27th), Lil Ronny MothaF (in Fort Smith, Ar Feb. 7th at La Rumba Night Club & Dec. 27th at El Far West Night Club) , Yung Nation (in Tulsa, OK Jan. 18th in Tulsa, OK at Tulsa Convention Center) , We Are Toonz (in Little Rock, Ar March 21st at McClellan High School) , YG (Feb. 1st in Tulsa, OK at Tulsa Convention Center) , and I opened up for NBA Chicago Bulls SF Ronnie Brewer in Fayetteville, Ar Feb. 2nd at Speakeasy Gentleman club for All Star Weekend. So my journey in 2 years has grown massive and iv'e been in places indy artists are working toward. And i did all of this by myself. Things were living up until a little time after. Producers started closing down studios so it was no where to record around here. If i wanted to record i had to travel 45mins to Fayetteville, AR just to drop a song or more so things got real stressful on me fast. My fans started wondering when was my next track or mixtape dropping. I was at peak in my career where i didn't know which way to go. But one day while in class i got a call from a guy named Mr. Redd and we talked about a show in Memphis, TN and asked was i interested. I quickly said yes. So things started getting a little better for me. Then Mr. Redd introduced me to a guy name Mr. Antonio. So him and I talked over some info about the MPRE label and a few weeks later i decided to join MPRE (Multi Platinum Records Entertainment) as a artist. Once i did that i met the CEO Mr. Quinn and EO Mr. Chill Will. And not to long after that MPRE had my music worldwide in distribution. It brought tears to my eyes because i've worked so long and hard and now its finally paying off. This is like God's gift to me for all my hard work, dedication, late nights in the studio, and motivation that i put in my music. Well thats what i thought. After being signed 1 year I found out i was being scammed the whole time. I was sold dreams & promised things that never happened. So I left MPRE and is now unsigned & independent. Still fully dedicated that some one sees that love & fire for music witin me. Im a versatile artist from Alexandria, Louisiana. I started rapping in middle Sept. 2011. My biggest influence to start rapping was Boosie. I wanted to be like Boosie. He was my role model since a younging. Its like he was da only person i could say lived a life close to mines, and one day after watching one of his performances I was like imma be a rapper just like Boosie, so i started rapping with my cousin at his hpuse. We had a cheap mic and pc. We created a group call D.Y.S(Dem Yung Soldiers) and it was a 3-man group, me, my cousin Jevonta, and my brother Mookie. It was serious to us. We did like 3 songs and stopped. Soon after I moved to Arkansas and started doing music solo.
