"Subconjunctival hemorrhage is when one or more blood spots appear on the white of your eye. The eye’s conjunctiva contains a lot of tiny blood vessels that can break. If they break, blood leaks between the conjunctiva and sclera. This bleeding is the bright red spot that you see on the white of your eye.
These blood spots can look scary. But a subconjunctival hemorrhage is usually harmless and often heals on its own." Learn more here:

“The weather is hot enough now to start complaining about how hot the weather is.” - Unknown
While the above quote may be humorous, high temperatures and heat are no laughing matter. Heat-related deaths have been increasing in the United States, with approximately 1,602 occurring in 2021, 1,722 in 2022, and 2,302 in 2023.
While visiting Bandelier, you'll be traveling between 5,000 feet (1,500 m) and 10,000 feet (3,000 m) in elevation. With every 1,000 ft (305 m) increase, ultraviolet radiation increases by about 4%. The risk of heat illness also increases with high humidity, elevation and high temperatures too. Plan ahead and stay safe!

The Eye Associates of New Mexico Regina Hall clinic, an original flagship location of our renowned eye care practice, is closing its doors today after nearly 40 years of dedicated service.
Housed in a historic building in downtown Albuquerque, the clinic has been a pillar of the community, providing exceptional eye care to generations of patients from across New Mexico.
The decision to close comes as a bittersweet moment for doctors, staff, and the community, as the clinic has been more than just a place for medical care; it has been a symbol of trust, excellence, and continuity.
The building itself, with its rich architectural heritage, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Eye Associates’ commitment to eye health and its profound impact on the lives of countless individuals and families.
Our clinics at The 25 Way in Albuquerque and on Wellspring Ave. in Rio Rancho have both been expanded over the past year, featuring new exam rooms, advanced lab equipment, and enhanced optical services to continue serving our patients across the Albuquerque metro and surrounding communities.
While we will never forget our roots, we look forward to serving the eye care needs of our valued patients for many years to come.

As the warmer months approach, prioritizing eye care is essential to protect your vision from the increased exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays and bright sunlight. Wear sunglasses with complete UVA and UVB protection to shield your eyes from harmful rays, and consider a wide-brimmed hat for additional shade.
Stay hydrated to maintain healthy eyes, and use lubricating eye drops if swimming and wind irritate your eyes. Remember to give your eyes a break from prolonged sun exposure, and never look directly at the sun.
By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the summer safely while keeping your eyes healthy.
