The Pug Ranch NM

I’m so sorry to share that one of our cherished seniors, 15-year-old Roxxi, passed away today. She’d been acting a bit off for the last few weeks, and we couldn’t quite put our finger on it. She was eating and sleeping, but just didn’t seem right. We initially thought she had gone completely blind, instead of just seeing shadows. Then, today, she had several big seizures back-to-back and wasn’t doing well. Our vet thinks it might have been a brain tumor, and we had to say goodbye. 😢

Here at the Pug Ranch, we truly love our seniors. Roxxi came to us a few years ago when the shelter called, and she was blind, deaf, and senior, needing a soft place to land. Her human was experiencing homelessness and had used the shelter program for boarding while she was trying to get on her feet. After the time they cared for her expired, she knew she couldn’t take her back safely and did the most selfless thing for Roxxi by wanting the best for her. We opened our arms to love her for her days, and I hope that we honored that for Roxxi.

She loved snuggling with the other grandmas and grandpas, especially Nezra. She may have been hard of seeing, but she knew exactly when Mike was in the kitchen and especially the fridge and let him know until he gave her a taste of pastrami. She wasn’t wanting to cuddle on our laps, but today was different, and we will treasure that. Even though she didn’t want to eat, she gobbled up a pup cup as the perfect sendoff.

Fly free, our sweet girl. I can almost imagine the party you’re having with all of our pug angels. 🙏🐾🌈

First, thank you, thank you & no need to bring anything. Even if you can only come for a few hours or the whole time, we appreciate you. Mostly it will be just hanging out, watching, walking and keeping eyes on the pugs for safety. And setting up & packing up.

Not ready to adopt? Come meet the pups, speak with the rescues and enjoy the celebration. Leashed dogs are welcome!

🐾 Adoption fee is $300 for all pugs or bonded pairs, and $200 for pug mixes and seniors 8 years and older.

🐾 All pugs are vaccinated, heart-worm tested, microchipped, spayed/neutered, and have had their noses (nares) fixed if needed. Puppies have shots, dewormed, and are REQUIRED to be spayed/neutered & microchipped at 6 months per their adoption contract. 👍🏻

🐾 We’re based in Albuquerque, NM, but we can also adopt pugs out of state. Just a heads-up, you’ll need to travel to New Mexico to bring your new furry friend home.
