Heat illness can happen faster than most people realize.
When temperatures rise, workers shouldn’t have to choose between getting the job done and protecting their health.
Knowing the warning signs is important. Knowing your rights is just as important.
Workers have the right to access water, take breaks when needed, cool down in shaded or cooler areas, and receive training on workplace hazards.
The more we talk about workplace safety, the more injuries and illnesses we can prevent.

Most workplace injuries never make the news.
But they change someone’s life forever.
That’s why training matters.
That’s why speaking up matters.
That’s why this work matters.
Too many workplace hazards become “normal” before people realize how dangerous they really are.
The Northeast New York Coalition for Occupational Safety & Health works to keep safety conversations visible before tragedy happens, not after.
Follow for workplace safety awareness, training, advocacy, and real conversations that impact workers across our communities.

389 construction workers died from falls last year.
Falls remain the leading cause of death in construction across the U.S. That is why May is recognized as National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls, an OSHA-led initiative focused on workplace fall prevention and safety awareness.
Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing trainings, safety efforts, and moments from the field as we continue supporting workplace safety across our region.
Preventing falls starts long before an accident happens.
Follow along this month as we continue the conversation around worker safety and prevention.
Today is Workers Memorial Day, and it’s a heavy one.
We’re taking a moment to remember the workers who lost their lives, were injured, or became ill just for going to work. No one should leave for work and not make it home, yet it’s still happening far too often.
The truth is, a lot of these losses could have been prevented. That’s the part we can’t ignore, and it’s why this day matters so much.
We don’t just remember. We keep showing up. We keep pushing for safer workplaces, stronger protections, and real accountability for the people doing the work every day.
Mourn for the dead. Fight for the living.
