As September rolls around, we will be saying goodbye to summer and welcoming a breath-taking Upstate New York fall. We will also be slowing down on our weekly location spotlights. This week’s location spotlight is the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. Escape into a world with tropical plants, a koi pond, a glasshouse conservatory, and so much more. This week’s location spotlight is The Greek Peak Mountain Resort’s Adventure Center in Cortland, New York. At The Adventure Center, you can expect thrills in the form of a mountain coaster, zip lines, aerial challenge courses, a playland for little ones, snow tubing, and skiing. Offerings vary based on season, but, year round you can try out the Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster. In a cart that can reach up to 32 miles per hour (if you choose), you can soar through the scenery of Greek Peak. Check out their website for full offerings and prices.

This week’s location spotlight goes to The Pretty Paw Lounge in Rotterdam, New York. This is the capital region’s first cat cafe where you can eat and visit with a room full of adorable and adoptable cats and kittens. A family-friendly activity for all cat lovers. This week’s location spotlight is Howe Caverns in Howes Cave, New York. It’s believed that the caves started naturally forming about six million years ago. Today, Howe Caverns offers many activities, some of which include cave tours, overnight tours, cave yoga, an escape room, a mining experience, and more. For the more adventurous souls, you can check out their spelunking tour where you get to gear up and explore the original cave discovery that goes beyond what is typically open to the public. This week’s locations spotlight goes to Fort William Henry located in Lake George, New York. Visitors can learn the fort’s history, take a ghost tour, witness live musket & cannon demonstrations, check out the gift shop, and take part in many more events at the rebuilt fort from the French & Indian War. Fun Fact: A large portion of the film “The Last of The Mohicans” is set in and around Fort William Henry (although it was actually filmed in North Carolina).
