They have worked Non-Stop for 2 weeks extracting water moving equipment tossing carpets day and night without a complaint.

Our Story
Romexterra Construction Inc., Fire and Water Restoration Services is a story of a dream come true for a first generation immigrant. At the age of 25, Nick, his wife, and his 1 year old son migrated from Romania to the U.S.A hoping for a better future with more opportunity for the generations to come. As most immigrants, Nick began his journey working odd jobs. However, he quickly began to see opportunity in construction and started his first handyman business “Mr. Valet Services”. Nick grew his one man show quickly and over the next few years became proficient in most of the construction trades. Through an acquaintance he began working as a subcontractor for large fire and water restoration firms landing his first fire in 1999. He quickly realized that this industry was more than just a “job” and more than just “contracting”-- he was changing people’s lives.
In 2003, Romexterra Construction Inc. was born; a full service subcontractor to some of Chicagoland’s largest fire restoration firms. By 2005, Nick was running 10-15 fire jobs at once, with crews of over 40 people and restoring the lives of hundreds of displaced homeowners out of his truck. He would spend 16 hour days running between jobs, delivering materials, ensuring that scope was followed, etc. While the final product was great and his business was profitable, Nick wasn’t happy with the environment he was working in and was determined to make it better. At the time, the contractors he would subcontract with would use unethical sales practices to force homeowners to sign fire losses and they weren’t completely transparent on where insurance funds were going. This conflicted with his core values of honesty, transparency, and doing the right thing. He was determined that he wanted to be the general contractor and move the industry away from unethical practices. In order to profound his experience, Nick took a break from subcontracting and became an insurance adjuster in order to understand how the insides of the industry work. Nick represented State Farm, Allstate and FEMA as an insurance adjuster within the next couple of years.
Growing up, Alex, Nick’s oldest son, followed his father's footsteps. As a child his father would take him to various fire damaged homes and was fascinated by this. He took had an entrepreneurial mindset, venturing into various businesses such as snow removal and web development at the early age of 16. By the time Alex finished high school, Nick proposed that Alex join him in a new project- Romexterrra Construction Inc. as a general full service restoration contractor. They started out of Nick’s garage, with tools left over from Nick’s subcontracting days and Nick’s red sprinter which he used while insurance adjusting.
Re-starting off with only 3 employees, Romexterra Construction began offering emergency water damage restoration services, remodeling, and structural reconstruction. The company quickly grew following Nick’s American dream. The Romexterra family currently consists of 22 employees in three divisions (Emergency Mitigation, Contents Cleaning, and Rebuild), operates out of a 21,000 sf facility in Addison, IL, and services the Chicagoland area within a 40 mile radius of it’s main offices following the core values of honesty, transparency, and doing the right thing.
