The State Troopers tried to sneak up on us today. No radio calls but we still heard them coming.

Yesterday we took delivery of our new Bad Boy 72” zero turn mower. This should cut down the time needed to mow the runway significantly. Our thanks go out to Tom Fredrick and his sales team at Fredrick’s Outdoors for helping us get a great deal on this machine! Anyone who would like to take her out for a two hour test drive up and down the runway is welcome to come over any time!

I borrowed a roller from a friend that also lived on a grass strip. Now I’m just waiting for some rain, and the ground to reach that magic moisture level for rolling. Wish me luck!
A Cessna 172 arrived this morning. Winds were 16 gusting to 22. I think he did a great job getting her on the ground in those winds.

Last December the Alabama DOT came out and inspected our airport. It took a while for all the paperwork to be completed, but we just received our new Operating License in the mail today!
Not sure about this one. Has US Army on the boom. Strange paint scheme for a military helicopter. Anyway, he was having a good time beating up the pattern.
Good news! As some of you may know, the Town of Addison decided a few years ago that it no longer wanted the liability or financial burden of maintaining the airport, and were considering shutting it down. This started a multi-year discussion/negotiation with the Town on ways to keep the airport operational. I’m very happy to say that we have finally reached a resolution. The airport property will be leased to the Boone Creek Aviation Foundation, effective 1 October 2025. We intend to continue to operate it as a Public Use airport. We are in the process of binding insurance coverage and working with AL-DOT to stand the airport up under the new name and ownership now. This has been a long journey but we had lots of help along the way. I’d like to especially thank Representative Tim Wadsworth and Senator Garlan Gudger for their help and support in our effort to save the airport.
Hopefully, I’ll have some good news to share with y’all on Tuesday morning. Stay tuned for more!
