Who doesn’t love hot chocolate during Christmas time? But more importantly, I love teaching my kids that it’s better to give than to receive. This is a fun gift because after the hot chocolate is enjoyed, the jars can be washed off and used for whatever they want. Hope everyone has the best Christmas EVER!! I do believe we are going to surpass our old record of 17.5 ft flood stage.
5 am 8/9/24 we were at 13.33 feet, with a projected little over 15' at crest.
Through out the day I have taken screen shots and we are up over 2.25 feet from 5 am - 10:30 pm 8/9/24. This chart has real time observations. The water is just starting to flow down stream from upstate, we still have a few more days of rise. I think come Monday / Tuesday we are going to have a pretty epic flood stage that surpasses our old record.
My saving grace is Genesis 9:13-15
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

The last few days have been busy. Summer school is over, VBS is over.
Catching up on my garden. The next 2 watermelon I brought in today they weighed in at 32 # and 38 #! That is over 130 # I have harvested so far - Fun fact - Watermelon smoothies are amazing lol
** I have had 3 watermelon get ate and originally thought on the first one that had a deer visiting - then I caught 2 of the dogs helping themselves the other morning - The hound "Burgess" loves them
I made 5 pints of bread and butter pickles
Put up 1 gallon bag full of sliced green tomatoes
Made 1 1/2 Quarts of Tzatkiki Sauce and 1 1 /2 quarts of Salsa
I also made pureed tomatoes for my next spaghetti sauce and tomato soup
Cantaloupe is approaching ripening - YES

This girl is still in the area. She managed to follow my DIL down by Jimbo Ln and Parkers Ferry. It only took 20 Chicken nuggets, 2 big cups of food, a Cheeseburger as they walked from the bridge throwing her pieces and animal crackers to coax her this far LOL We was hoping to get her into the yard and be able to catch her. She came into our yard but then left before we could get her penned up. She is so scared and cautious... she doesn't know she is beautiful and we mean no harm. Please keep an eye out for her At least she is down here by houses now instead of up by Geddisville road with no hope.

And what Saturday would be complete without me doing a home DIY project? (I need to find that Saturday lol) ** This is a work in progress**
My intent "originally" was to update the deck boards and give the framing a nice face lift. After removing and inspecting the framing, it initially looked ok. Rain delayed me a few days and I noticed one of the posts seemed to be staying wetter than normal for 100 weather, I removed a deck board from that side and saw one of my support posts had visible signs of decay SO
a) luckily I always by extra lumber when I make a trip for those just in case moments
b.) In between rain showers on Saturday I ended up removing all the deck boards, jacked up the framing platform and reattached it to the house, removed and replaced the bad post and then rebuilt the platform and laid new deck boards.
I have the top deck done - it was 100 degrees outside so I quit with that.
I will be adding the bottom and side stair step up in the next few weeks. I was originally only going to do the bottom platform on the front, but my mind is telling me to wrap it to the 2nd side because it will look pretty - MY MIND REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE A BREAK (Respectfully submitted by my body LOL)
Lastly, I will say this about my Ex - he was not afraid of using MANY penny nails and making sure things would last a long time. Geez, that was a workout on the demo

My first few days of summer break have been fruitful - thankfully it has been too hot outside so I could do some inside chores. After doing the mandatory cleaning out and reorganizing my cabinets I did a few fun things - a canister for my cooking utensils and another hanging lamp shade.
