We ARE OPEN!! It was brought to my attention that our business was portrayed as "permanently closed" on this site. I don't know how that happened - but I went and edited and have the hours posted that are current starting May 3rd. which are: Tues - Fri 8am to 4pm and Sat 8 to 11:30 am (This is the last week of Thurs - Sat. hours.) We are still for sale (see post below) but once again We ARE OPEN. Please pass this word along, thank you!

It's Spring! The "about" section says we're closed except Sat. am's. NOT TRUE! Try as I might to say our hours are:
Monday thru Fri 8 am to 4pm - facebook is not letting me add the hours. Will work on it another day. (We will be closed Memorial Weekend but otherwise MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 8 TO 4 & Sat. 8 to 11:30.
Open Wed thru Fri 8 to 4 and Sat. 8 to 11:30 thru the winter. We have plenty of snow you can have for free! Or plenty of bales of shavings @$6.00/ bale. They cover about twice as much as a bag of shavings. Also lumber for your winter building projects! Cash or check accepted. Come by and see us!
It's the week before Christmas - time to stock up on our bales of shavings before we take a couple weeks off. We have plenty in stock! We've had quite a few compliments in the office about how well liked our air dried shavings are. They are not as dusty as the kiln dried variety that come in bags. A 40 to 50 lb bale is $6.00. Maybe you need some tongue and groove/v-match for a winter project - give a call for more info.
Frank, posing in this photo, has a birthday coming up Monday the 18th - wish him a happy birthday if you happen to see him around.
If you haven't seen this video it's a fun one! All the woods and sawmill things were filmed here! Carl & Frank were tossing the sawdust onto the guy at one point - you'll see it!
A long time family friend and neighbor passed away this week.
Norman White of Shapleigh, Maine would have been 95 in a couple days. Carl, Mark, and Frank grew up as next door neighbors/farmers. Norman was a very good neighbor and would always help at any time and anyway he could. When the Hurds were getting into dairy cows, Norman sold them one of his best Holstein cows. Norman will be missed and our sympathies go out to the White family.
Spring is technically here despite our snow covered ground. Winter hours are still in effect, meaning we're still closed Mon & Tues. We still have shavings at $6.00/bale. Hopefully in a few weeks Spring will actually have sprung!
Back in 2008 we got a phone call from a couple of guys from N.Carolina wanting to produce part of a video here - it became part of Speedy's Great American Road Trip sponsored by Alka-Seltzer. There's no mention of Hurd Lumber - but Rhett & Link told us we could promote it - here's the link for that video - enjoy!
We have plenty of kindling to start those fires! Stock up now!!
This was a post to Susan Hurd from Trisha Brink Ellis:

It may be another rainy week, but the sawmill is running - let us know if you need any timbers sawed or if you need some custom sawing or planing done.

This is a link to a video of the sawing operation that a customer of ours posted on youtube. After all these years in the business, it's still fascinating to watch! Thanks Roger for posting this.
It's fun to see some new fans with the last name Hurd, all distant relatives I'm sure - stop by and say "Hi" if you're in our area!
I did a little research last week trying to figure out how to get Hurd Lumber Co "Pages" and Hurd Lumber Co "Place" put together, but so far no luck - anybody know how to do it?
