Hi there. My boyfriend, Michael, and I are in search of a housing situation in the Abiquiu area. We are currently living here on my mom’s property as a landing spot with the intention of finding our own place. We wanted to get the word out now in case anything at all opens up down the road, especially with tourist season starting up soon. We are eager but flexible with our timeline and are open to hearing about any situation — being that the housing opportunities are so few and far between these days. We have two sweet, well-behaved cats. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
HI! Anyone in Abiquiu (or nearby) selling Girl Scout cookies? I'd love to support a local group. Thanks!

Some beauties near the Rio Chama.
Hello. We have two very cute kittens that need homes.(We don't know their s*x) They have been feral but are getting more and more used to being around people. Yesterday I was able to pick one up for the first time.

We have other grown cats we are taking care of and can't take care of these sweet kittens. Let's help them find their new person/people. Thanks so much! Contact Julie or David at 505-901-1367.(in El Rito)
Who's got SEASONED firewood? thanks
Although, from what I could find, we are only voting for Soil & Water Conservation Supervisors for the East Rio Arriba SWCD (and both men are already on the board and not facing any competition), I still think it's important folks get out to vote on Tuesday, for nothing else, to show that we care about our County. The Abiquiu Rural Events Center on 554 is open 7:00am-7:00pm for voting on Tuesday, November 2. To check your voter registration status, visit the Rio Arriba County Clerk's Office's website (http://www.rio-arriba.org/departments_and_divisions/clerk's_office/clerk_.html). In the column at the right, click on "Find My Registration and Election Information."
We are so lucky to have this great newsletter sent to our inboxes every Friday morning!!! Thank you Carol and Brian and everyone who contributes to The Abiquiu NEWS !!!!!!🤩🤩

"Op-Ed: NM Rural Electric Co-ops Keep Members in the Dark"
Great op ed by 350NM member Stephanie, on the hypocrisy of the New Mexico rural coop's Enchantment Magazine. They refused a PAID ad for a free webinar from Kit Carson on their savings from going solar. Literally trying to keep their members in the dark.

Happy to hear that Houda is back home safe and sound:

Today is World Rabies Day and we would like to take today to highlight the ways you can make a difference in the fight against this deadly virus.

- The easiest way to protect your pets from rabies is by ensuring they are up to date on their pre-exposure rabies vaccine.
- Keep your cats inside to prevent disease transfer from wild animals or other cats.
- When out hiking or walking, be sure to keep your pets on a leash to prevent surprise contact with wild animals.
- If you encounter a wild animal that is acting abnormally (i.e. foaming at the mouth, acting aggressive, uncoordinated, irregularly quiet) call your local animal control or game and fish officers. DO NOT approach the animal or attempt to help.

At NMWC, we help protect our community from rabies by vaccinating all of our Ambassador mammals and our wildlife hospital patients that are at high risk of contact with rabies. All of our staff members who interact with mammals are also rabies vaccinated. Help spread the word this World Rabies Day by making sure your friends and family know how to do their part in preventing the spread.

Outside Glasgow Central Station stands a bronze statue as a symbol to recognise the work of firefighters past and present. Named the Citizen Firefighter the statue is a beacon to remember those who have risked their lives and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in an attempt to save people from burning buildings. Less than three months after it was unveiled on June 17 2001, Citizen Firefighter became a focal point for the people of Glasgow after the events of September 11 in New York. The statue, designed by Kenny Hunter, became a place for many to leave flowers and tributes to the many firefighters who died in those events. And on October 23 2001, the Scottish Fire Brigades held a ceremony of commemoration at Citizen Firefighter for those 343 members of the global family of the fire service that lost their lives while trying to save others. Citizen Firefighter also stands as a reminder of all of the Glasgow firefighters who have died while on duty. As part of the 40th anniversary of the Kilbirnie Street blaze a further memorial is now being made to remember these fallen heroes.
