I will be your servant Leader: Umar Nangoli pledges to people of Mbale City

In a bid to redefine the local political landscape of Mbale City, the Northern Division MP Umar Nangoli has pledged to adopt a "servant leadership" model promising the residents of Mbale City a transparent, accountable, and community-centered administration.
Nangoli who was addressing a mammoth of his supporters and local leaders on Saturday at Nakaloke playgroundbon Saturday emphasized that the true essence of leadership has been lost to personal ambition, leaving the taxpayers of Mbale City disconnected from local governance.
He noted that he is going to be a leader who raids mainly on consultations, needs and aspirations of the people noting that after three weeks, he will be moving to grassroots to consult with his electorates on what the want him to deliverate on in Parliament.
"I am not coming to be your boss; I am coming to be your servant," Nangoli declared. "For too long, the leadership of our city has operated from high towers, detached from the everyday struggles of the market vendor, the Boda Boda rider, and the youth struggling to find employment. My leadership will be defined by listening to you and executing your mandate." He added.
Nangoli outlined several critical areas where his servant-leadership approach intends to drive immediate change: including Public Accountability where regular open town hall meetings across the city division will be established to allow residents to directly question how local revenues and government funds are being utilized.
He also cited Infrastructure Revival Prioritizing the urgent rehabilitation of city roads, drainage systems, and waste management, which have long frustrated local businesses and residents.
According to him, he intends to foster Economic Empowerment by Creating structured support systems for the informal sector, ensuring that local markets are modernized and accessible without oppressive local taxation.

James Wanade, a resident of Lwaso believes that framing his campaign around servant leadership will resonate deeply with an electorate that is increasingly skeptical of empty political rhetoric.
Nangoli’s bold pledge sets a high benchmark for political accountability in Mbale, challenging other leaders to move beyond traditional campaign promises and offer concrete frameworks for community development.
The Bishop of Mbale Diocese Rev John Wilson Nandah whose one of the guests at the thanksgiving said Nangoli has tried to unite the people of Mbale. He sked the elected leaders never to forget about the needs of their people citing good roads, better schools, electricity among others.
"I want to ask our friends who were voted, never forget your people. In most times after you elected you go for good" the Bishop noted
The M***i of Uganda Sheik Dr Shaban Ramadan Mubajje who was the chief guest in his speech cautioned against disunity among leaders of Bugisu sub region. He also asked leaders to unite for the good of the people they serve.
