From Koboko to Kigali. From refugee to graduate. đ
She was a young girl in Koboko, Uganda. Carrying a story most people thought would end early.
People probably told her "itâs hard", "be realistic", "maybe next time".
But she kept showing up.
Through displacement. Through doubt. Through days she felt like it wouldnât work out.
Today sheâs an African Leadership University - ALU graduate. Cap, gown, sash, and everything.
Consistency doesnât shout. It just keeps going.
Hope doesnât always feel big. Sometimes itâs just choosing to try again tomorrow.
To the girl from Koboko and to anyone who feels like giving up:
"Your background is not your boundary. Keep going, Donii Gifted".

Happy Birthday to our dedicated Programs Coordinator, Loong John aka Loong LG đđ
Today, we celebrate not just another year of your life, but the impact you continue to make as a young leader.
Currently a Senior Four student at Daystar, John has consistently proven that leadership is not measured by age or size, but by vision, commitment, and action. He has been one of the brains behind the success of both Jieng United Students Association (JuSA) and South Sudan Students Association (SSuSA) at Daystar, inspiring fellow students through service and teamwork.
They say, "Small in stature, but big in the brain."đ§ And John truly lives up to that.
Your dedication to the Academic Pathways Initiative (API) and the student community continues to inspire us. May this new year bring you greater wisdom, good health, academic excellence, and even bigger opportunities to lead and serve.
Happy Birthday once again, John! Keep shining and keep unlocking potential.
Happy Birthday, Champion!đâ¤ď¸

Leadership is not measured by titles but by the lives we choose to inspire.
We are incredibly proud of our Founder & Chairperson, Stephen G*i Lual , for joining this remarkable team of young leaders to mentor and inspire primary school learners across Koboko through career guidance and life mentorship.
At the Academic Pathways Initiative- API , we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to dream beyond their circumstances. Every conversation, every word of encouragement, and every lesson shared has the power to shape a future.
This career talk reflects the very heart of our missionâ"unlocking potential through education, mentorship, and opportunity". By reaching learners early, we help them discover their strengths, broaden their ambitions, and prepare them to become the next generation of leaders, professionals, and changemakers.
We applaud G*i Lual G*i and the entire mentorship team for investing their time, knowledge, and passion into building brighter futures. Your commitment is creating an impact that will be remembered for years to come.
Together, we continue to inspire, empower, and transform livesâone learner at a time.

âI NEVER CHOSE THIS TITLE
â
âI never chose this label, it was thrust upon me,
âA title given by default; against my will, it seems.
âMy leaders chose it for me, without my consent of voice,
âNow it marks me as vulnerableâa target for cruel choice.
â
âForeigners judge me, criticize me, without understanding,
âQuestioning my worth, my family, my background, my standing.
âRich kids, with privileged lives, mock my circumstances;
âThey do not know the struggles, the hardships, the resilience.
â
âI am a child of nobody, a refugee without a home, I've never tasted the luxuries they take for granted, unknown.
âNo KFC, no pizzaâjust master beans to eat, One set of clothes, no shoes upon my feet.
â
âI walk to school with feet that ache,
âNo transportation, no comfortâjust the road I take.I combine four subjects in one booklet, just to learn,No resources, no supportâjust determination to yearn.
â
âI've lost my identity in seeking refuge and aid.
âI never chose to be a refugee, with a life displaced.
âI am more than this title, more than this label, I say;
âI am a child with dreams, with hopes, with a future to shape.
â
âYet still, I am judged, criticized, made to feel small, My worth measured by my circumstances, by every fall.
âAll because my leaders chose war over peace, Injustice over freedom, suffering over release.

âWho Will Be Blamed?
â
âIn a small house, a girl dreams,
âOf books and learning, bright as the beams.
âShe wants to read, to write, to know,
âBut her parents say, âNo school, no go!â
â
âShe sits by the window, watching the sky, âWondering why she can't even try.
âIs it her fault?
Does she deserve this?
âA chance to learn, oh, how she would wish!
â
âWho will be blamed when the stars fade away?
âIs it the girl, or her parentsâ sway?
âEducation's a treasure, not just a game,
âLet her seek knowledge, donât put out her flame.
