Hello, anyone know where I could get tractor spares, particularly for a Deutz 6207 tractor?
Hello Am From Migori Kenya Where Can I Get Drd 8551f1 And Rambo F1 In Nyatike Area
Pliz comrades help advise a friend correctly ! Am a farmer doing both crop husbandry like maize ,onion, gnuts, and try small scale vegetable growing at my backyard. I do poultry, and piggery soon to venture into diary farming. Through all these I have inspired many to join agriculture. I have this friend who visited me today and asked me 'BTN CROP GROWING AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, WHICH ONE IS BETTER?' He kindly requested me to give a genuine answer but I told him to give me two days.

We continued with our discussion and I wanted to know why he asked me? As we were sharing,I discovered that this gentleman planted 5 acres of beans last year ,things were OK but at the flowering stage, rain was too much which affected him. During the harvesting stage ,also rain was too much and most of the beans had to rot . He also planted Soybeans and gnuts but they were all affected by rain and he made a big loss.

This year he decided to forget the past and tried again with gnuts ,beans, maize, and onions. Maize is doing well according to him. This place had been affected by unreliable rainfall . when he planted beans(3) acres, he spent 1 week and 3 days without rains. Later we received rains for 3 days and now it's over 1 week without rain. The beans and gnuts are affected so badly and he said , if it doesn't rain in the next 3 days, he is finished. On the side of onions, he transplanted and rain disappeared and he couldn't irrigate since there's no nearby water source. Later it rained twice and transplanted the balance but now no rain for one week. So onions are also in danger😢😢😢😢.

I think u now know why he asked me?? Pliz farmers I give the answer back to u btn growing and animal, poultry keeping, which one is better?? His explanation was crop growing entirely depends on weather but animals u can control. My friend is so desperate and needs an answer. He doesn't want to leave agriculture what should he and other silent majority do in this situation???

SOME STRATEGIES TO CONTROL PRODUCE PRICES!
Its quite painful, and seriously hurting for the current on going situation of huge falling of agricultural produce prices.
Its quite ashaming that buyers donot understand that people go into production as a business.
Not as a charity.
The world must understand that the smile of a farmer is the wealth and well being of the world, this kind of mistreatment interms of exploitation is highly disregarded and discouraged.
People go into farming with alot of hard work, faith and hustles inorder to produce for us all to consume.
Others go in for loans.
Others depend entirely on farming.
Others have a long thread of beneficiaries whose well being depends on this farming.

It nearly shed tears in my eyes when a group of farmers in some regions told us they dont expect their children to go back to school.
It was hurting because their education relies majorly on farming.
But we cannot just sit and watch as our farmers cry!
During such times is when the government policies are supposed to be more revisited and revised,to prove the mindfulness rendered to farmers.
But since our leaders mind more about their political statuses...they wont mind an inch!

Away from all that, what strategy can we take to cub such incidences of grave price fluctuations as farmers?
What can we try to put in order so that we avoid further happenings of the same callibre?

1. Form farmer groups or producer units
These groups or units can help individual farmers in finding better strategical organisation in attacking, creating and inducing markets.
For example like we forned the African bird eye chilli where we share information, help, and support to each other inorder to achieve our farming goals.
These will help farmers
👉find better markets
👉take advantage of collective effort
👉widen market linkages and bases

2. Plan before you produce!
This will help you know and understand best, the strategy you are to follow to achieve your dream or farm goal, but without a plan, you will face questions you cannnot answer.
If forinstance you cant answer the following questions then you are bound to fail
👉what are you producing
👉why are you producing it?
👉for whom are you producing?
👉where will you produce from?
👉how will you produce it?
And if yes how many alternative buyers do you target??

3. Lets improve innovation, value addition and creativity.
Its such as hard to find farmers in the sector of value addition crying of price fluctuations.
This is because they present products to consumers in the upgraded form possible, and this improves market base for their products.
If farmers could slowly take up this attribute we can then surely try to fight the arrears caused by price fluctuations.
One may say not all farmers are able to carry out value addition because it requires advanced investment but what if we created value addition farmer groups across village bases or region bases and farmers produce is sold and profits rendered to them or payments?
What if we started with the easiest forms of value addition?
Lets think about this too

4. Off season farming..
One of the factors that make markets flooded with produce is producing via crammed or known seasons.
What if we learned ways and methods of presenting necessary conditions to plants rather than waiting for seasons? How far could we be?
Some would produce under seasons and others off seasons.
This can be backed up by good marketing strategy, good plant management, and good storage facilities!

5. Improve and setup Storage facilities.
Long times ago,we used to have food grannaries where food was stored and supplied in times of high demand or less supply.
What went wrong these days?
You come across a farm without a storage facility, no producr stores,no granaries
And do we have to blame anyone for this?
No,lets set up good storage facilities,so that even during flooded markets you are able to store your produce until times when the market improves abit.

6. Understand the rule of supply and demand.
If the season everyone says is good for beans is on,why do the big number go in for beans? Why not to opt for another crop but avail it with necessary conditions?
You can try to understand the demand and supply patterns through farmer groups, new papers, guides, consultants, local farmers leaders among others.
These can be eye openners!
There are crops that do well on market during absence of the others forexample cabbage does well during less bean supply, and vise versa.

7. Farmers should agree on common pricing strategy.
This will help us counter attack the exploiters whose interests lies in their own earning while exploiting farmers.
We should try to form region bases committees which help us set pricing systems so that we get a settled pattern of business.
The unrest among farmers is really hurting..

8. Attend farmer gatherings, trainings, expos, meetings among others
These help us get more market info, links and connections, hence these try to basically solve our price fluctuations woes that come as a result of less awarenesss!
Lets move towards less ignorant farming.

9. Avoid excitement.
Alot of people will comeout to excite you about certain projects but not asking enough or researching enough about the given projects is a grave sin.
A group comes to the village and tels you to groe passion fruits and then by the time fruits are ready, the market is either flooded or the buyers are planning to take advantage of the high presence of the produce!
Here i advise most farmer leaders to source out for contract buyers for better results.

10. Eliminate middlemen
Middlemen usually do what a usual farmer should have done.
👉they search for markets
👉add some value to produce
👉find better strategies of increasing profits
And our farmers will only focus on produce and sell strategies hence cannot reduce price fluctuations in africa.
Lets do alittle bit more of what middlemen do to claim profits from our sweat
With the above strategies.
I will end here for today
Lets await for more solutions or strategy as we go on with our fight against this grace exploitation!
The sweat deserves the pay.
