We recently had a joyful day with the students at Hopeful Hearts Community School in Namuwongo as we worked together to establish a small garden with in the compound. The excitement from the children was unforgettable. They eagerly gathered around the garden beds, taking turns planting seedlings and watering the soil. Many could not wait for their chance to help. For some of them, it was their first time planting something with their hands.
This little garden will now serve as a living classroom, helping children learn about nature, the environment and where food comes from. As the vegetables grow, they will also help supplement the children's lunch at school, a small but meaningful step toward improving their daily meals.
This effort is part of the Hopeful hearts Safe and Green School project where we are working step by step to create a safer and healthier learning environment for the children.
Sometimes the smallest gardens grow the biggest lessons.🙂

Even in this dry season, our office gardens is thriving. It continues to remind us that you don't need ideal weather or large pieces of land to have fresh food. With creativity, recycled containers and a little care, life still responds. At EASE we believe everyone can grow something. If a small space can grow tomatoes, sukuma, spices and more, imagine what can happen when we create more green corners across communities. If your school or community space would like help starting a garden, reach out, we are happy to support you!
