Over the weekend IWCE accomplished yet another milestone ; we hosted the first men only retreat dubbed Game Changer. The goal of the Game Changer Retreat is to get men to recalibrate. Recalibrate? Yes, to recalibrate. As men there are roles we are expected to play; roles at family level , with regard to our children, wife and relatives. Our society also expect us to discharge certain roles in the community where we live. We have defined roles at the workplace. All these roles; both the ones that have been imposed on us as men and the ones we have ourselves willingly taken on, can take their toll, leaving us sometimes wanting in certain respects. While we acknowledge the responsibility that we carry, there are those moments when we wish we could bounce our thoughts, ideas, frustrations, doubts etc on someone who understands because he has gone through the baptism of fire. All men have those moments. This is what led to to idea of Game Changer. It is a program for men who want to become better men! The concept is simple; get away for the weekend, meet fellow men, reflect, rediscover yourself, revitalise physically and intellectually, reconnect spiritually, relax, review your life's plans, reset and surely as iron sharpens iron, shapern each other as you recalibrate and get back to the man you were created to be.
Men of Game Changer September 2017 used the rolling 6 words to describe what the experience had been for them:
Awakening.
Empowering
Rejuvenating
Refreshing
Renewing
Enriching

Game Changer- As Iron Sharpens Iron is a weekend programme staring Friday evening to Sunday evening.if you would like to know more about this programme and to register for the next intake please contact Sam Bwaya on 0772481190 or email [email protected].

The Ladies only retreat is called Me Time. Two Me Time retreats have so far been held. The next Me Time retreat will take from 8th to 10th December 2017. Contact Sam or Norah Bwaya (0752262335, [email protected]) to register.

We believe that conducting business ethically and striving to do the right thing are vital to the success of any company. We stand for fostering a culture that is committed to ethical leadership and conducting business with integrity.

The Institute of Work Culture and Ethics is a Transformation Baraza. "Baraza” is a Swahili word that means a meeting held by a group of people with wisdom. IWCE programs, activities and deliberations challenge perceptions and mental models. People who get extra-ordinary results start with changing their mindset; stretching their targets, believing in possibilities, and thinking out of the box. Exp

[12/08/20]   Did u know you can do anonymous HIV/Aids testing?

The 2014 HIV & AIDS Prevention & Control Act defines this as " an HIV testing procedure where the individual being tested doesn't revel his/her true identity. An identifying number or symbol is used in substitute for the name, this allows the laboratory conducting the test and the person on whom the test is conducted to match the test result with the ID number or symbol".

You don't have to give your personal information, get tested to know your sero status today.

Did you know that H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni signed into law The HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act, 2014 on 31st, July 2014, that among others criminalised the intentional spread of HIV & discouraged discrimination according to status in the workplace? #EthicsandHIVwithIWCE.

04/12/2020

This December join #EthicsandHIVwithIWCE on our different platforms as we explore corporate culture and policy on HIV/Aids, and create awareness in the different organisations.

Let's hear from you first. What is your understanding on HIV/Aids and its mode of transmission? Can you get HIV from sharing a lavatory with an infected co worker?

July is special to us at the Institute. This is when we have our annual #WorkCultureandEthicsday celebration which is about calling the public’s attention to, and raising awareness about, the need for action in addressing WCE challenges in Uganda. The Institute of Work Culture and Ethics (IWCE), as founders of the WCE Day, have been leading the multi-sectoral (public, private and development sectors) organizing committee which currently has over 20 member institutions. The Day has been celebrated annually since 2017 and it happens on the last Thursday in July.

Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings due to the Covid - 19 global pandemic we have had to postpone the large scale celebrations but will be communicating updated activities we can do #AloneTogether which is in line with this year's theme which is "Work Culture and Ethics; the Business and Social Case".

As we join the world & Uganda in #WorldCancerDay activities, we wish to draw attention to the inequality of services available. Most treatments are expensive, found in few hospitals & are mostly paid for out of pocket.
We urge the government to come in & subsidize the medical procedures, medicines & equipment, to give every Ugandan diagnosed with cancer a fighting chance irrespective of financial ability.

We also recognise the toll caring for a patient takes on the family and primary care givers. We thank every one that has cared for a patient physically, financially & most especially emotionally.
