On 14th October 2025, Lyomoki Development Organisation (LYDO), alongside other key partners in the fight against Sickle Cell Disease in Uganda, had the honour of participating in the National launch of the Sickle cell Scale-Up Programme in LIRA CITY.
The event was led by Hon.Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng, Minister of Health Uganda, and marked a major milestone in advancing efforts to raise awareness, improve early diagnosis, and expand access to treatment for individuals affected by the Sickle Cell Disease across the country.
We are proud to stand with the Ministry of Health and our fellow partners in championing better Health outcomes for all Ugandans.

Uganda is one of the top four countries in the Sub-Saharan Africa where the prevalence of Sickle Cell Disease is alarmingly high. Every year, 25,000 babies are born with this condition, and tragically, 80% of them do not live to celebrate their 5th birthday.
Lyomoki Development Organisation (LYDO) is committed to working tirelessly to screen and educate communities about Sickle Cell Disease. Together we can save lives and ensure a brighter future.
