Veteran Journalist Shaka Ssali has passed away. He was a former employee of Voice of America and the longtime host of "Straight Talk Africa" talk show. He passed away at the age of 71 two weeks to his 72nd birthday.

May his Soul rest in eternal peace.

According to the latest information shared by Grace Ssekamatte, the body of fallen comedian Nicholas Mpirwe alias Messe Bontwe was repatriated from the USA on 14 Jan and will be arriving in the Country on Thursday 16th Jan 2025.

The body will be handed over to the Executive Funeral Services and the family. His body will proceed to the funeral home, where it will spend a night, and on Friday 17th January 2025, he will be taken to Munyonyo Church of Uganda for service and later to his Home in Kabuuma.

On 18 January 2025, the deceased's body will be taken to the National Theatre for public viewing. From there, his body will be taken to the final destination at his ancestral home in Rwampala on 19th January, where it will be laid to rest on Monday 20 Jan 2025 at 2:00 PM.

Nicholas Mpiirwe passed away on 12th December 2024 in the US. He was formerly a member of Amarula Family comedy group and a radio presenter at Ddembe and Super FM. May his soul rest in peace.

Police have this afternoon carried out an intelligence-led operation around Kamwokya following a tip off that they are thugs who were planning to rob a client who had just withdrawn money from a bank at Acacia Mall branch.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, Police Intelligence planned and staged officers to wait for the thugs as they were trailing the client.

"After the withdraw, the thugs were monitored and around Kamwokya is where the disruptive operation started. At the entrance of Total Petrol Station,they fired at the hugs," said Onyango. Other thugs were put out at Kasasiro stage in Kamwokya and Mawanda road.

Six suspects were put out of action according to Police while two pangas and motorcycles were also recovered. The suspects were on the watch list of Police and have been monitored for a while.

Police have thwarted a bank robbery at Acacia Mall in Kampala, neutralizing four suspects who were involved in a Stanbic Bank heist. The operation has also left one in critical condition.

According to Police,the individuals were already on their watch list and are believed to be linked to a series of robberies.

Makerere University will today kick off its 75th graduation ceremony at the University Freedom Square. Over 13000 students will be graduating from different colleges during the ceremony which will happen until Friday 17.

A total of 143 PhDs (64 female, 79 male), 1,813 Masters (768 female, 1,045 male), 243 Postgraduate Diplomas (96 female, 147 male), 11,455 Undergraduate Degrees (6,369 female, 5,086 male), and 8 Undergraduate Diplomas (2 female, 6 male) will be graduating from all the Colleges.
