The Governance retreat is set for 10th – 13th April, 2023. It will include activities like: devotions, presentations, experience-sharing & review sessions. Participants will review previous approaches & assess their appropriateness in addressing the emerging issues.
The four day retreat will bring over 60 participants including, the Council of Presidents, Religious leaders,Board members Team Leaders, Dev't Partners, Gov't Ministries & agencies, reps from the East African Inter-Religious Councils, the and other agencies.
It is organised under the theme: "position Faith Communities for Effective Contribution to Nation Building".
The Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda, Rev. Canon William Ongeng, and the Secretary General of the Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), Mr. Joshua Kitakule and their technical Staff, met today in Namirembe to discuss opportunities for partnership between the two organizations.
"We recognize the vital role that the Inter Religious Council of Uganda plays in promoting peace, unity, and development in our communities. We believe that by working together, we can achieve even greater impact and transform more lives." Canon Ongeng said.
He commended IRCU for promoting religious tourism, citing its significance in promoting cultural exchange.
"Religious tourism plays a significant role in promoting cultural exchange, spiritual enrichment, and local economies. It's a unique opportunity to connect with different faiths, traditions, and heritage. I thank you for promoting it and let's continue to embrace and celebrate diversity." Canon Ongeng said.
Mr. Kitakule commended Church of Uganda for their long time support to IRCU and offering it Strategic leadership and advice.
"IRCU is committed to building bridges between different faiths and working collaboratively to address common challenges. We thank Church of Uganda as our member for your strategic guidance and leadership always. We are excited about the prospect of partnering with the Church of Uganda to create positive change in our communities." Mr. Kitakule said.
Both organizations will explore ways to collaborate on initiatives related to education, health, and social welfare. They will also seek opportunities to engage with other stakeholders and leverage their respective strengths to maximize impact.
Religious Tourism is and continues to be one of Ugandas untapped potential. This is however about to change following the engagement that IRCU had with the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, Uganda Tourism Board and Wildlife Association.

Today, the IRCU Council of Presidents visited the Orthodox church to commiserate with the faithful following the death of Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga.
His Eminence was a Co-chair of IRCU Council of Presidents and one of the founding members of the Inter-Religuous Council of Uganda.
We continue to pray that the good Lord strengthens the faithful during this trying time.
