Today we introduce Kasper Straatemeier, who joined the embassy this week as an financial intern. Through this internship he will learn about work at an embassy, while providing invaluable support to our control unit. In this, he will bring his experience working as financial advisor for the Security and Rule of Law-department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.
Kasper has a passion for both watching and partaking in sports, particularly those that come with a little adventure. The fact that he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro two years ago stands as a testament to his adventurous spirit and interest in this region, leaving us wondering if Margherita’s peak is his next conquest.
Kasper is eager to learn more about Uganda's history and society and we are happy to welcome him in our team!

In the past years, Corinne has worked in Chile, Kenya and The Hague - always with a focus on trade, private sector development and agriculture. She has also been seconded to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), so she knows her way into the private sector instruments that can assist both Ugandan and Dutch entrepreneurs. Corinne is looking forward to work further on economic cooperation between the two countries for the coming years!
We wish you a happy holiday season and may the new year bring you health, peace, happiness and prosperity! 🎄 ✨
Kindly note that the Embassy is closed from 22 December 2023 - 2 January 2024.
A wonderful cultural event at the Netherlands Residence yesterday, with Kaddu Wasswa and Andrea Stultiens. Andrea is a Dutch artist photographer/ researcher who is working to document and understand the history and cultural heritage of Uganda. Her project has contributed to the preservation and dissemination of historical images and stories from Uganda, including those of Kaddu Wasswa Archives. Four of her works hanging were purchased by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and adorn the walls at the Embassy in Kampala. The evening was facilitated by Journalist/writer Michiel van Oosterhout who interviewed the 90 year old Kaddu and provided background to the traditional Kadongo Kamu live music by Jaja Master Kaaya Sweetman that completed this special evening.
Thanks to everyone attending!

🌱Mission Sustainable:
The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs not only stimulates others to aim for the Sustainable Development Goals, we also want to see these values reflected in our own actions. In a nutshell: walk our talk!
☀Walk the talk:
Today, we explored avenues for plastic recycling at the Embassy together with Eco Brixs. Recently, we also started a study on how to reduce our footprint by a possible increase in the use of solar panels and purchasing a eco-friendly vehicle.
🌎What’s next:
To name a few - recycling paper and glass, serving vegan and vegetarian food as much as possible during events and engaging in conversation with others about how to reduce our footprint further.

It is Election Day in the Netherlands! The election is for the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of the Dutch parliament, with 1,128 candidates from 26 parties competing for one of the 150 seats available.
The party winning the most seats in the election traditionally gets the first chance to form a coalition government.
Some of the populair themes during the campaigns were: purchasing power, climate, migration, the housing shortage and the Dutch healthcare system.
The elections in the Netherlands today are a vital exercise in democracy, offering citizens the opportunity to shape the country's future. As the results unfold in the course of today and tomorrow, we will be watching, eager to understand the implications for Dutch society, the EU and the global political landscape, including our programmes in Uganda.
