Last week Makindye Ssabagabo Municipal Council held a Technical Oversight meeting for Heads of Departments to share their input on the implementation plan 2022/27 and draft Memorandum of Understanding between the council and the business forum. The MOU will guide joint implementation of the Strategic Action Plan under the project.

Hon. Martin Ssejjemba, the LCV Chairperson Mpigi District Local Government ,yesterday urged fellow leaders to seek relevant knowledge on how to attract investors and establish public private partnerships to support economic development. "We must be the focal persons of the change we want", he added. This was during the validation meeting for the district Local Economic Assessment Report that was developed with support from Commonwealth Local Government Forum CLGF .
Both political and technical leaders agreed that despite the immeasurable competitive advantages that their district has, they have not been fully exploited. It was clear that the Assessment was done in time to provide a strong benchmark to unlock the potential of the district and hence reverse the existing trend of poverty.
Ms. Assumpta Tibamwenda,the Consultant was instrumental in guiding the leaders to understand the correlation between Local Economic Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Revealing findings from last weekโs virtual presentation of the Local Economic Development (LED) Assessment report for Mpigi District. There is great potential for trade, tourism and agriculture which is not fully exploited. Community engagement, equipping the district LED department, training leaders, partners and having a LED structure not to mention a resource team in place, are some of the measures that can help achieve this.

Kabarole, Religious, Cultural Leaders &Media Launch House to House Polio Immunization campaign
Kabarole District Local Government, cultural leaders, media and religious leaders have launched the National House to House Polio Immunization campaign with a call on all stakeholders to mobilize the masses to embrace the program.
According to the Senior District Health Educator Kabarole Madam Catherine Kemigabo, the house to house polio vaccination exercise kicks off on Friday 14th โSunday 16th January.
She demanded the leaders to strengthen mobilization and information dissemination to ensure the parents prepare their children below 5 years to receive the vaccine adding that on Friday the nursery and kindergarten children will be vaccinated at their respective schools.
Kemigabo wants the people to observe the ministry of health directive of observing the SOPs during the polio immunization exercise to avoid covid infections.
The Ag District Health Educator Kabarole Mr. Kisembo Brian has asked all the LC1 chairpersons and VHTs in Kabarole district and Fort Portal City to write notices informing their people of the mass polio vaccination that starts on Friday and ends on Sunday 16th January.
