We have realised that most of the people buying land these days are getting land titles from those they are buying from when they are not matching the plot of land being bought or even the area bought is not the one indicated on the Title ...... HERE IS OUR ADVICE WHEN BUYING LAND....
1. Before you pay, confirm if the title you are to be given exists in the records of Uganda land Commission with its full names as indicated.
2. Get a Land surveyor to confirm the area you are about to pay for and let him also confirm if the plot of land on the title is actually the plot you are being shown. This is done by opening boundaries.
3. Ensure the person you are going to pay is the rightful owner of the Land and Title. Ask for a national ID if need be..
4. Do not buy land which has conflicts whether minor conflicts or major. Ask the neighbourhood to confirm this and resolve them first.
5. Please involve the leadership in the transaction. Inform the chairman and police. They will be the same people to help if any issue arise about the land...
6. If the land is owned by more than one person let all of them be physically around when doing the transaction...
