Uganda is committed to ending in children by 2030 as a signatory to the Global Alliance to End Paediatric AIDS by 2030.
Previous initiatives laid the groundwork, averting over 73% of new paediatric infections by 2020.
The Global Alliance to End Paediatric AIDS by #2030 is a global initiative co-convened by UNICEF, UNAIDS and the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), The Global Fund (GFTAM), CSOs and networks of people living with HIV. The Global Alliance initiative seeks to bring together key stakeholders at national, regional, and global levels who work with women, children and adolescents living with HIV, governments and partners to mobilize leadership and funding toward accelerated efforts to address persisting prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) and paediatric HIV response gaps.
The alliance focuses on four pillars with community-led interventions at its core:
🔵Early testing & treatment,
🔵Closing treatment gaps for pregnant women
🔵Preventing new infections
🔵Addressing barriers to access.
We pledge to continue working with the Government of Uganda and collaborate with government entities, development partners, civil society, individuals living with HIV, and the private sector toward a future where no child is affected by .

Exciting News from Kassanda District! Today, we are thrilled to share a remarkable project that's making a lasting impact on healthcare and community well-being.
In the wake of the 2022 Virus Disease outbreak, UNICEF, with generous support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Embassy of Sweden in Kampala, took swift action to enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in the heart of the affected areas, including Kassanda District.
Sustainable access to safe water is critical in preventing disease transmission; that's why UNICEF focused on healthcare facilities (HCFs) and communities, ensuring a resilient response against future outbreaks.
Partnering 🤝 with District, UNICEF Uganda identified and supported seven healthcare facilities 🏥💙 with improved water supply systems, thus strengthening infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.
The project currently benefits over 30,00 individuals, including patients, health workers, and the broader community and illustrates the lasting impact of our collective efforts.
Thank You 🙏, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Embassy of Sweden in Kampala, for your unwavering support in creating healthier, safer communities in Kassanda District.
