DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
There has been a general decrease in cases of Domestic Violence registered countrywide from 17,698 cases in 2022 to 14,681 cases in 2023.
Domestic Violence has mainly been caused by; Dispute over family property, Failure to provide for the family, Drug and Alcohol abuse, and Cases of infidelity.

Violence against women is shrouded in a culture of silence. It relies on the silence of the community to continue to cause more harm to women & girls. Ending violence in our communities requires our collective voices to condemn perpetrators and hold them accountable.

None of us are free until we are all free. It is important to recognize the interconnectedness of injustice and the key role of solidarity, togetherness and unity while addressing it.

Effective VAW Prevention requires sufficient, longer term and flexible funding for Grassroot organizations and Women’s Rights collectives. Funders should support organizations and initiatives working to prevent violence against women and create an impact.
