Water is the most essential element of life and survival. Yet, many refugee communities face challenges accessing safe water sources. In Yumbe district, northern Uganda, Bidibidi refugee settlement hosts over 750,000 South Sudanese refugees as of November 2023, making it one of the largest refugee settlements globally. Due to this high population, the community grapples with limited resources, including access to clean water.

While several projects have been set up to provide access to safe water, these traditional approaches face financial constraints. In an era of extreme financial cuts to refugee-hosting communities, the importance of innovative, cost-effective solutions cannot be overstated. That's why HailNumbers is taking a different route with a groundbreaking initiative in Yumbe district aimed at addressing water scarcity challenges in refugee settlements.

Through our utilization of remote sensing technology, we're able to pinpoint groundwater potential areas in refugee-hosting regions, providing a sustainable and cost-effective solution to water scarcity. By leveraging innovative technology, we're maximizing the impact of limited resources, ensuring that all funds invested yield tangible results for refugee communities.
This initiative not only addresses immediate needs but also sets a precedent for how technology can be harnessed to create long-term, sustainable solutions in resource-constrained environments. We call upon organizations such as UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, The Innovation Village, Mission in Uganda, to partner with us in amplifying our impact and driving positive change on a larger scale.

Furthermore, through our data science consultancies and partnerships, we provide innovative technological solutions, and through internships create opportunities for individuals to contribute to meaningful research projects while gaining valuable experience in the field.
