Have you ever experienced the behind the scenes program at UWEC (formerly the Zoo) in Entebbe? It's not a full day activity, and with just a few dollars, the great conservation work in Uganda is supported.

Enjoy these few snippets from a recent visit.

SEMLIKI VALLEY πŸ“

The magnificently scenic Semliki Valley lies at the base of the Albertine Rift to the west of Fort Portal, where it is hemmed in by the Ruwenzori foothills, Lake Albert and Semliki River along the border with the DRC.

The dominant vegetation type is open acacia-combretum woodland and grassy savannah, interspersed with patches of borassus palm forest, significant belts of riparian woodland along the main watercourses, as well as some extensive swamps towards Lake Albert.
.. in the afternoon, we went to the celebrated hotsprings. Emerging from the long grass, we suddenly came on a belt of rich tropical foliage paved with slabs of rock. From these great sheets of steam were rising... all along the upper edge were springs of boiling water, bubbling furiously...infront were clouds of steam... - excerpt from Dr. ALBERT COOKS memoir Ugandan Memories. πŸ“œ
