The Itesots of a decade.
If today I were to write a letter, to our founding fathers that have passed on, and to those who gave Us a reputation for being the wise men from the East. I would write it in this manner. I am reporting live in the year 2021. After a long wait, there is finally hope that Teso is moving in the direction of Unity, independence and development. A few individuals have made bold statements, that have put smiles on our 22-year-old wrinkled faces. They have given us reason to believe in ourselves, the will to become better people in our society. Like split fires coming out from the sun, the above deserve the recognition because of what they have shown Us:
Dear Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Dear Attan Moses Okia, Dear Adeke Anna Ebaju, Dear David Calvin Echodu, among others. I must say you made a few of us proud, you gave the letter "O more pride and meaning than we ever imagined. We have waited long enough to have such leaders amidst Us. You have become a role model to us the younger generation. The problem has been that most of us carry a view that we are helpless to influence processes because we hold no political or powerful positions. Which to a large extent is true. You as individuals must do certain things in order to energize processes that in return will direct us towards achieving a self-sustainable society bound by unity. Our people need proper education, better services among others that will make us being to compete and become more recognized globally. Problems such as Dis-Unity and ignorance caused by the low levels of education have greatly disabled our society. You must begin to think differently for our people to become great, because no amount of praying and fasting can help us if we do not fight for our kinsmen. We should look forward to making Teso great in the years to come. We have never had people who want to try, but in you have filled our hearts with buckets of hope. Yalama amun kosi ejai nekus. Let me take this opportunity to share why we are in court and why we won't fear to take the risk of being slapped with heavy costs or even death.
I will start with a few questions;
1. Did we have an election as per the minimum standards that define an election?
2. Were illegalities committed or not?
3. Did Attan win or not?
4. If Attan won and another person is in office, what are the legal available remedies?
Yes! Courts may be captured and controlled. If we gave up on seeking justice from courts how shall we prove that they are captured and who will take the risk to have that fact know and provable?
Our election petition, is premised on the believe that for evil to prevail all good men and women must remain silent in the face of injustices. If we remain silent now, in the future elections they may come to kill at any polling station aware that nothing can be done by the victims of their injustices. They could kill your mother, father, brother, sister or even your own child because he or she has a preferred choice. It can happen anywhere in Uganda and we shall be growing Ugandans with the culture of impunity and the untouchable.
In the words of Martin Niemoller, I quote
"first they came for the socialist and I didn't speak out. Then they came for trade unionists, and I didn't speak out. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak out. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me"
Yes, I am very aware of the risks associated with taking this direction I have chosen. My supporter, may be fearing the costs that may be slapped on me but it even entails being murdered anytime.
However for the record, I will state, that I wouldn't love to remain alive while silent in the face of injustices.
I am spending and willing to pay the highest cost, even if it's death for us as a people to have a free and democratic society. This is a struggle,I decided on and joined in 2001.
With the injustices of the recent Soroti East Bye-election and what ordinary citizens faced and continue to face because of their belief and choices,I will be the biggest traitor to them if I went silent as they continue to suffer beatings and sleeping outside their homes.
Those thinking of 2026,I respect your position. However, respectfully I will deffer because this is beyond ceremonial electioneering but rather a focus on the subject matter to check the growth of impunity and a section of Ugandans to think that they are above the law.
We are in court to test the law,to test the democratic principles and rule of law that we are told was brought into Uganda some 37yrs ago.
It will be remembered that in 1981,the current leader of Uganda went to the bush because of rigged elections and over half a million people died in the five years- 1981-1986.
Given what happened in Soroti East Division Bye-election, if those who died in the five year bush war were alive today, would they remain silent? Would Mr.Museveni of the 1980s remain silent?
If your an NRM fun, or follower reflect a little and ask yourself, why the did the NRM have to rob Attan' victory in broad daylight? What was at stake? Why did they have to beat and injure people inorder to force a win? What crime did Attan commit against the state of Uganda?
After, you have thought through, u will appreciate why Attan won't go silent against injustices and that is me since 2001 to date.
This election petition shouldn't worry the one who supported me, calm down. We shall handle, this is a struggle and a long-term one, that eventually Ugandans shall rejoice over some day. Even the NRMs too shall enjoy the fruits of this struggle one day when we have a free and democratic country.
In every struggle, some individuals must take the responsibility to pay the heaviest price. I am sure,we draw inspiration from the Late Nelson Mandela for what South Africa is today, what America is today, the late Martin Luther king Jr. is a role model, In the present India, Mahatma Gandhi stood out and spoke out against injustices in the colonial India.
We have a duty as citizens,to stand up and speak out against injustices because injustice to anyone is injustice to everyone.
Yesterday was Attan and his supporters, and your celebrate the injustices against us because your NRM, tomorrow it could be done unto you and there may be no one left to speak out for you. If you doubt, ask former Prime Minister Amama and the former IGP- Kale, and the famous chairman boda boda 2010-Kitata. No one is free until all of us are free.
Yes, you may hate Attan and his supporters but respect the rule of law and if you don't observe it, don't expect us to not speak out because we must fear costs that may be slapped on us from the captured courts or even being murdered. Hapana!!

Congratulations to our brothers Ndugu Elakuna on the extreme right hand side, Ndugu Okoboi, Emojong Deogratius and your other colleagues.
It's great not to hide our true colours!! One of you recently claimed infront of my party president POA and Kizza Besigye that I don't trust you for nothing! Now you have exposed yourself! The higher a monkey climbs, the more it exposes its behind!

Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago: We reject the results of the Soroti East by-election, and it doesn't reflect the will of the people.

It does not in any way meet the standards of the Constitution, and as we said earlier on, it is a mockery of democracy.

Going forward, we insist that the provisions of Article 3 give us a clear way forward on what we should be doing.

With humility and gratitude, I thank God and you all the voters of Soroti City East Division in particular and the democracy loving Ugandans in general!

From the bottom of my heart,I thank you for the support and love, I am very sure that you will all agree that I Attan Okia Moses won the bye election, but another person was declared after massive voter bribery, ballot stuffing and arrest of our polling agents who were forced to sign declaration forms on gunpoint by the state controlled military! I still thank you for the genuine votes and true love and support and I appeal we stand strong and firm!

WE SHALL BE COMMUNICATING OUR COURSE OF ACTION IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS!

All men save for women, were driven and taken to Dokolo CPS in Lango Subregion.

After voting, please protect your vote! The Junta is scared of losing, they are using all tactics including using the partisan police to transport preticked ballot papers!

Free President Amuriat, Free our polling agents! Give Ugandans their freedom

Attan Moses (FDC): It is unfortunate that all our polling agents have been arrested. Over 70 people have been arrested, including the party President Patrick Amuriat.

My worry is about the safety of people in this election because the state seems to want Ariko to go to Parliament at all costs, even when he has no support. Our agents have been denied access to the polling stations.

HON: ATTAN POISONED
Verbertim: I was poisoned yesterday. You may have realised I left the rally before it ended.
I was given the local antipoison and my night was tough - vomiting and diarrhoea.
By 3:30am, I was too weak and had to be moved to a clinic where iwas managed and after one and a half hour I was moved out of Soroti to a private facility for further management to avoid our enemies to access me.
I give glory to God,that I am alive and getting stronger. Thank you so much, most especially those on the ground doing everything possible to protect our victory that shall be declared tomorrow after 4pm.
Our enemies have gotten desparate and restless, however they have no choice but to accept the will of the people and God.
I am returning to the constituency today after further check ups, examinations and treatment.
I will be fighting to the end! With God on our sideπŸ™πŸ™

Rtd. Col. Kizza Besigye: Elections alone will not end gun rule in the country. We want the people of this region to demise with contempt what this government is doing and return Attan.

We need to end the gun rule that has caused misery in this country.

24/07/2022

Rtd. Col. Kizza Besigye: The support for Hon. Attan is there. It was never contested and is not the reason for the by-election.

The reason we (leaders of opposition political parties) are here is to continue to guide the people on the manipulation the junta wants to use to confuse the people.
