National Children Authority
NCA is a Government Agency established by Act of Parliament, the Children Amendment Act 2016. (xiv) Prepare and maintain a national data base on children.
The National Children Authority (NCA) was was established by the Children (Amendment) Act 2016 No.9 "to provide a structure and mechanism, which will ensure proper oversight coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation of all policies and Child Rights based programmes relating to the Survival, Development, Protection and Participation of the Child and for other connected matters. The Vision is a Uganda
Religious, cultural and traditional leaders play a key role in inculcating good morals, cultural norms, values and practices through the family unit. The cultural and religious institutions are responsible for the following; Identify, document and promote positive cultural practices related to positive parenting; promote the parenting practices within their respective institutions and amongst their subjects; collaborate with stakeholders in ensuring family support and stability; promote inter cultural exchanges to share experiences on positive parenting; make pronouncements to discourage negative cultural norms and practices that affect the growth and development of a child and family strengthening; recognise model families in their areas.

On June 16, 2022, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Sarah Mateke, launched the 2022/2023 - 2026/2027 National Strategy to End Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy.
Hon. Mateke also launched the National Child Focused Research Agenda.
The launch happened during the national commemoration of the Day of the African Child, held at Butaleja District Headquarters.
As NCA, we welcome this development because it is a step in the right direction to protect the children of Uganda.
The children of Uganda are speaking up. We need to listen to them.
After a serious deliberation at the Children's Parliament today, the children of Butaleja, led by their speaker, Nangwedde Mebbo Victoria, presented their recommendations and call to action to the Minister of State for Youth and Children's Affairs, Hon. Sarah N. Mateke.
Today's Children's Parliamentary Session was conducted as part of the national commemoration of the Day of the African Child. Its focus was on a report by an Investigation Committee of the Butaleja District Children's Parliament, which outlined a number of issues affecting children in the district and country as a whole.
The 2022 Day of the African Child commemoration is being held at Butaleja District Headquarters.
DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD: We are live at Butaleja District headquarters playground, partaking in the national commemoration of the Day of the African Child.
This year's commemoration is being held under the theme: "Uganda's progress in eliminating harmful practices affecting children through policy and practices since 2013."
Today, we join people all over and the world at large to commemorate the Day of the African Child. The national function shall be held at Butaleja District.
As we commemorate this important day, NCA calls upon all actors to take the much needed actions and end all forms of child abuse.

CHILD PARTICIPATION: A KEY INGREDIENT IN UNDERSTANDING AND RESOLVING CHILDREN'S ISSUES.
Ahead to tomorrow's commemoration of the Day of the African Child, children in Butaleja District today, with support from World Vision, convened a Children's Parliament at the district production department. The children debated issues affecting them locally and nationally, and proposed critical action points to be taken by various stakeholders to create a favourable environment for their proper growth and development.
As a body entrusted with the observation and ensuring of children's wellbeing in Uganda, we were glad to witness this fruitful discussion by our future leaders.
We would, therefore, like to appreciate so much the efforts of our various partners such as World Vision, UNICEF, our mother ministry, Gender Labour and Social Development, Butaleja District Local Government, among other Government agencies and departments, for their continuous commitment exhibited towards improving the livelihoods and wellbeing of the children of Uganda.
After a successful dialogue in Fort Portal on Saturday June 11, 2022, the children of Uganda, led by Daniel Kyaligonza of Komyamperre Primary School, presented a petition to Hon. Victoria Businge Rusoke, the Minister of State for Local Government, seeking Government commitment to end Child Labour.
The minister was representing the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda as the Chief Guest at the World Day Against Child Labour commemoration, held at Bunyonyi Primary School in Kabarole District.
As a body entrusted with overseeing the wellbeing of children in Uganda, we were glad to witness the Hon. Minister, alongside other dignitaries, sign the petition to confirm government commitment towards ending child labour in the country.

WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR: We are humbled to be part of this great commemoration being held at Bunyonyi Primary School grounds in Kabarole District. The theme for the Day is: Social Protection to End Child Labour.
As NCA, we remain committed towards our vision of making Uganda a country where children's rights and responsibilities are observed and fulfilled by all. And it is our pleasure to work with the various partners in making this day a colourful one.

As National Children Authority, we remain committed to ensuring that the children of Uganda are always protected, and that any form of Child Abuse, including Child Labour is eliminated from our society.
