That photo is more than 3 years old and was taken on his first day at a digital related job. He's a lot bigger now, trust me. Over the next 3 years and more than 16 digital marketing clients and projects later, he would start his own social media/ digital marketing agency - BrandLords Digital.

His aim with BrandLords Digital is to help small businesses in Uganda with limited marketing resources to utilize the internet (specifically, social media) as a primary marketing tool to grow their businesses.

The past few months have, with all honesty, been a lot better than previously anticipated. Barely three weeks after we launched, we got 2 clients that desperately needed social media marketing services.

For the next four weeks, we dedicated every resource to these two clients and helped them achieve their marketing goals. Both clients were so impressed by our work that they both increased their budgets, renewed their contracts and one of them actually signed up all 4 of his other businesses for our social media services.

Things aren't exactly as rosy as I might be painting them. There's obviously challenges and low moments occasionally but it's all worth it, honestly.

We're also currently working on launching a new digital service that will probably launch in about two weeks if all goes as planned.

If you run a business or plan to open one any time soon, I seriously beg you to look into social media marketing as a potential tool for growth. If done right, it will significantly impact your business in ways you never thought possible. You have my word on that.

When we are sharing stories to create bonds with other like-minded people, we want to give them social currency with the highest pass-on value we can.


You can buy attention (advertising). You can beg for attention from the media (PR). You can bug people one at a time to get attention (sales).
Or you can earn attention by creating something interesting and valuable and then publishing it online for free.


When the world is running down, you make the best of what is around.

Don't let Covid-19 take you (and your business) down with it.


Content-based marketing gets repeated in social media and increases word-of-mouth mentions; it's the best way to gather buzz about a product.


If there's one lesson Covid-19 has taught us, it's always be open to adjustments. Things won't always go as planned.


Don’t believe everything you read or see on social media.

There’s no shortage of ill-intentioned people on these streets.

Especially now that we’re grappling with a global health pandemic, some people out there are creating and circulating conspiracy theories and taking advantage of this situation to scam and spread fake news.

Before you believe, like or share a news story you’ve seen on social media do your research to make sure it’s actually true.

Employers have now started doing social media background checks on everybody they’re considering to offer a job.

Anything you post online can come back to haunt you, even years later. You might think your comment was ironic, hilarious or edgy. You may have intended it as satire or social commentary. It may have just been a moment of misjudgment you expect to blow over.

But your online record is part of your permanent record, and you aren't guaranteed the benefit of the doubt, even if you think you deserve it.

Be careful what you share online. In fact, take time to go thrugh your old posts and delete or hide anything you wouldn’t want your future boss to see.


As we grow even more depending on our phones in the next decade, remember to lift your face from the screen, step away from your devices and spend time making connections that matter right where you are.

Technology may become an even greater part of society's fabric in the decade ahead, but it's crucial to remember why it's there -- to ease our lives, not to control them.

Be where your customers are.

You’d better get to them before your competition does.
