A friend of mine had just bought a Toyota Alex 2003 model when robbers broke into his rental in Kyanja. Of course, they broke into all the neighbors’ houses but none of the neighbors had a new car yet the robbers needed a ride to add to their loot. So, the best alternative was the new Alex which was very easy to sell.

So, they asked everyone in the kikomera and they found out the owner, my friend. Everyone had been made to sit down in their living rooms with one robber guarding each house. When my friend heard that they wanted to take his new baby, the Alex, he decided to fight. He was well built and very big because he went to the gym at least 4 times a week. He thought they were like three to four guys, a number he could manager, he was wrong. The robbers were about 15 and armed, in fact they had been robbing different places that night and even had a full pick up of things outside.

Long story short, my friend failed to beat them and he was stabbed with knives, cut with machetes and he only lived to see two more days, in the hospital.
He died trying to save his new car because he knew that if the robbers took it, there was no getting it back. He instead lost his life.

What I am trying to say is that, had he installed a tracking device, he would have peacefully handed over the keys and then start tracking his car as son as they left. The bigger advantage is that the robbers would have been arrested too and more things recovered.

However, because he thought spending 350k on a tracking device is too much, he died a painful death and my friend’s family has never recovered.

Don’t be like my friend. Install a tracking device so that you don’t have to fight for a car when dangerous people want it.

The answer is YES. Every car can get stolen but what we should be asking ourselves is, do cars with tracking devices get recovered?

Every car can be stolen but cars with tracking devices can be recovered within 1 to 6 hours from the time you realize that your car has disappeared. The device can give you the real time location of the car and this can be used to track the car in real time. This means that should a thief take your car from a parking lot and you realize, you might as well just grab a boda and chase your car with your phone as a guide and recover it before the thieves get a way.

The biggest mistake the people make when they install tracking devices is telling other people about the devices. A tracking device is supposed to be secret, a secret kept by the car owner, one other trusted person and the technician who installed it.
