*UPCOMING WEBINAR*
*TOPIC: RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT SICKLE CELL*
*About the event:*
Worldwide, the burden of Sickle Cell disease (SCD) has not been amply addressed. In Africa, Uganda has the 5th highest burden, a situation aggravated by limited and inaccessible formal social support structures to aid patients and families cope better with the psychosocial burden of SCD. In addition, this has been coupled with stigmatization and discrimination of people living with sickle cell disease causing isolation from family and society. Lack of information about where to find support and relevant assistance has further crippled the efforts towards curbing the disease.
It is against this background that Light Empowerment Organization (LIEF) and its partners found it neccessary to organize this webinar focusing on *Creating Awareness About Sickle Cell* We therefore invite the general public to join us at this webinar as we delibarate on solution based approach to tackle SCD in Uganda.
