PSD is also conducting a 3 days training workshop for health workers in selected health facilities in Wakiso District on providing adolescent-friendly services to young adolescents accessing SRHR information services at the health facility. Health Workers need to provide young adolescents with SRH services and information so that these young adolescents can make correct and informed decisions that will not negatively impact their health and quality of life.
PSD is conducting a 3 days training workshop for selected community members in Wakiso district on SRHR of Young adolescents. These community members will work as Community Resource Persons (CORPS) at grassroots level to create awareness in communities in order to reduce stigma that young adolescents face when accessing SRHR information and services. the community members were selected from Kakiri S/C & T/C, Masuliita T/C&S/C, Mende S/C, Kasanje T/C and Bussi S/C in Wakiso district.
The training is being conducted at Wilsen Hotel in Nansana.
PSD launched a new project in the area of SRHR titled "Empowering communities to reduce stigma towards young adolescents accessing sexual and reproductive health rights information and services in Wakiso district." with support from AmplifyChange. The project aims to reduce stigma towards young adolescents accessing SRHR information and services and to advocate for the adoption and incorporation of sexuality education in schools in Wakiso District. Project stakeholders and Like-minded CSOs were present during the launch.

We held the last Quarterly coordination meeting with stakeholders at Floral Hotel, to reflect on the 18 months of implementing the project titled "Empowering Women to Promote Peaceful and Gender-equal Societies in Wakiso District".
A report on the performance of activities implemented, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for sustainability was presented in relation to the project impact; "Increased meaningful participation and decision-making of women in conflict prevention processes and response".
The Peace coordinators and Women Peace Groups representatives shared their experience during implementation from the time of their training to the end of the project.
The stakeholders appreciated PSD's efforts in engaging key actors, at the grassroots in creating awareness and sensitizing the communities on Conflict Prevention, Conflict Early Warning and Early Response, Gender Based Violence and Peace building. They also committed to support the sustainability of the project goal through their interventions.

The world celebrates the international Day of the African Child to reflect on progress made towards children Rights as well as the barriers that they continue to face.
With this year's theme "Eliminating harmful practices affecting children", African governments are urged not to tolerate or legally permit child marriages, denial of education, or other Human Rights abuses against children, especially Girls.

PSD held the fifth and last Quarterly meeting with her beneficiaries, the Peace Coordinators and Women Peace Groups of Busiro North and Busiro East, purposely to share contextual experiences, best practices, and share recommendations for future programming.
The meeting was also an avenue to discuss a sustainability plan and strategy at the end of the project, to which participants committed to continue creating awareness on GBV, Peacebuilding, Conflict Management, Conflict Early Warning and Early Response in their respective communities.
The guest of honor, the District Community Development Officer Wakiso District Mr. Kyejjusa John, highly commended the efforts of the Peace Coordinators and the Women Peace Groups in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding in their respective communities.
The Peace Coordinators and the Women Peace Group members were awarded Certificates of appreciation for their service towards achieving the Project goal/impact "Increased Meaningful Participation and Decision-making of Women in Conflict Resolution Processes and Response".

We were honored to have the UN Director of Policy Program and Intergovernmental Division, Ms. Sarah Hendrick, together with the Head, Austrian Development Cooperation agency in Uganda, Dr Kremsher Roswitha, interim UN Women country representative, Ms. Adekemi Ndieli, WPHF Programme Management specialist Ms. Katrin Fischer, Wakiso District Chairperson, Hon. Matia Lwanga Bwanika, engage our beneficiaries in a discussion on the impact of the project on them and their communities, challenges faced and efforts made to address their challenges.
"Women should not shy away from addressing conflicts, and they need to work with leaders at the community and national level in building peace, stability and development" said Dr. Kremsher Roswitha, in her closing remarks.

Our Executive Director presented the project goal and outcomes, together with the project's impact on the communities. She mentioned the different capacity building programs that were organized for the beneficiaries prior to commencement of their activities.
Nagayi Mary, a Peace Coordinator from Kakiri TC, shared that the project areas are wide and they find it overwhelming to conduct their activities in all villages. However, they have managed to create rapport with local leaders in the project areas to enable them to carry out their activities.

PSD conducted a training for members of the Women Council at the sub-county, and Town Council level in Wakiso District on early warning & response, data collection and conflict analysis, meditation processes & civic education.
The capacity building session was held from the 12th to 14th April 2022 at Tick Hotel, Kawempe.
As a result of the training, the Women council members developed a work plan on how to develop and sustain a community-based conflict early warning and response system that will be effective, through identification of conflicts and prevention of violence in their respective communities.
The trained Women Council members will be followed up on, to ensure effective implementation of the work plan.
