"Dances are a big part of Maasai tradition. There are Dances for all kinds of important social accosions..men and woman prepare for the dance by painting designs on their faces and bodies with ared, earthy pigment called ochre. They wear intricate, colourful beadwork necklaces and shawls..
One at a time they go to the centre, jumping in time to the rhythm. Its important to keep the body as straight as possible and heels shouldn't touch the ground between jumps.. the woman dance too. Mothers sing about the courage of their sons. The girls sign to encourage their favourite warrior.

Maasai people carries such weight that they decided to name themselves after it. In simple terms, the name ‘Maasai’ itself means ‘people who speak Maa’.
Another interesting fact is that Maa is related to the ‘Latuko language’ spoken in Southern Sudan. This makes the idea that the Maasai originated from the area even more likely.
