Final day, and small review, as there are a few review's done already.

I will score out of 10 being best 1 being poor

1) Food taste - 10
2) Food Choices -10
3) Food Presentation - 5 as cold at times

4) Room size - 10 for single person
5) Bed - 10 as Very Large and comfort
6) TV - 7 as not a Smart TV and very few Expat channel's
8) Toilet - 8 Shower head's don't adjust
9) Room Facilitys- 8. Kettle tea and coffee and small desk and seats, No Microwave, this is badly needed to heat the food.

10) Wifi - 8 Now and again it would drop, I used my own.
11) Out door Garden - 7. Not a big area and its on the 3rd levels of Hotel Roof, Nice views of the airport.

12) Staff and Room Service - 10. They really do try and always answer phone and line, if I have any issue its dealt with there and then.

Would I use again YES, Would I recommend this Hotel, YES.
They have around 130 POB.

In all my years of living here this hotel staff have shown the best customer care services, and for those who know Thailand that can be a challenge.
Staying at the Siam Mandarina has been a pretty quick and painless 2 weeks.
I was taken from the airport, with one other passenger to the hotel in a private mini-bus. Check in was ok, the other person checked in while I did a blood pressure and temp check. I was told at this point to add the reception and nurse using Line as this was how all communication was done. I then went to my room for my first 5 days of not being able to leave.
The room was pretty spacious. And included 15x1.5 litre bottles of water. And 15x tea, coffee sachets and sugar. You can buy more water at 30 baht per bottle.
The bathroom had 5x shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion plus toothbrush, cotton buds etc. I had 5 big towels...enough to keep me going until the first Covid test.
My first meal was really nice...spaghetti meatballs with Parmesan and garlic bread.

The bed is really comfy and pretty big, King I think. My room does face the road which is pretty noisy at times but I’m not a light sleeper so this didn’t bother me. My window also opens which is nice and I look down onto the pool.

I did my Covid test on day 3 and the negative result came in on day 4. My room was almost immediately cleaned. At this point I spent some time in the garden (3rd floor opposite the garden where you do the Covid test). It was so nice to be outside and chatting to people.

The food has been fine. Only once in the 2 weeks was there nothing on the menu I liked at lunch time so I ordered room service. You can also order from 7/11 - order before 1pm and it arrives around 5pm and this has a 10% surcharge for delivery.

You book everything using Line. The pool area has a man checking your room details but the garden does not. The pool area is nice around 10am and the garden around 5pm for some shade. It’s pretty relaxed with you leaving the room after the first negative results. I know people who say out by the pool all afternoon - this seems to be ok and if it gets busy the people who have been there longer than their time are asked to go, which is fair enough. I was able, after second test, to use the pool area, gym and garden in one day which really breaks up the time.

The hotel provides a SIM card they can activate for you and gets you 4g. Since getting the SIM card I’ve used that to hotspot my laptop to work as the WiFi is sketchy at best. The 4g is especially good if you are by the pool and fancy a coffee or smoothie...a beer would have been nice!

I actually booked the hotel because it stated you could use the gym and cafe from the first negative Covid test but this had changed by the time I arrived. And the gym was from the second test...2 days before leaving. And the cafe not at all. The gym is pretty good with up to date equipment.
You cannot buy any alcohol.

The food has been fine, and I’m a fussy eater. The portions are pretty small and it always arrives on the cold side. But I understand how difficult, logistically this set up is. Always water melon and dragon fruit with the meals.

They do state that the tv has lots of Thai and international stations...I have Fox films and aljazeera...that’s it. Had the tv on 3 times in the whole 2 weeks. I watched stuff downloaded on my hard drive and Netflix through my laptop.

The shower isn’t the best but I liked having the bathtub even if the plug was pretty temperamental and didn’t always turn.

They are pretty good and quick at responding on Line, especially if ordering room service.

You do a temp check each day at 8am and 6pm. You just send a picture of the thermometer, it’s not a video call like I had read.

I must say that I noticed a big difference to the running of the place during the week and at the weekend. The weekend was quite chaotic with food being late, forgotten about etc.

You do 2 Covid tests, one on day 3 (for me) and day 11...results the next day. These were pretty uncomfortable, much more so than the one I did at home. I do question if the person doing them has any medical training.

The room is cleaned every second day from the first negative Covid test. Bed sheets were also changed.

I really recommend the chocolate waffle from the room service menu 😜😜

You can leave from 5am on day 15 of your stay. I had booked a flight at 10am. I spoke to reception the day before and asked to see my room service bill in order to make the check out process faster, and this is where it got a little weird. I messaged at 1030 asking for the bill. By 2pm still no bill. I messaged again asking for the bill. I went to the gym and got back to my room at 1545...still no bill. I decided to go downstairs and just ask them to print me off a copy (how hard could that be!) so I go down to reception and ask...and then it gets weirder. They tell me to take a seat and then the concierge and receptionist are having a wee chat and they keep looking at me...paranoid much?? Then he comes over and tells me they will bring it to me. I ask why I can’t have a copy now and he says because they are busy...didn’t look like it but hey ho. I ask how long it will take. He said an hour. So the bill came and of course it didn’t include the 20% room service discount. I was told a new bill had been left at my door, I was in the garden. Got to my room...no bill. I messaged and was told now it’s dinner time so it would be sent later. I asked could I just go down and get it ‘no, we don’t allow anyone in reception’. Um...ok then...the saga continued until 9pm!! I was then phoned by the manager to explain they the price on the menu doesn’t have a service charge so that’s the discount. I told him this was false advertising and that the hotel really needs to take down the statement that food and beverage orders have a 20% discount. It really tainted the end of my stay. And the fact it took so long to get the bill makes me question if this is intentional so it takes a long time at check out and people don’t have time to question it.
The actual checkout was almost quick and painless...they checked my room, I paid for my room service and they ordered me a taxi. They gave me an envelope with my 2 negative Covid test results...but not letter to say I had quarantined. They said it hadn’t arrived (I’m not sure where it was coming from) I explained I was flying and could potentially require it as proof. The receptionist was really great and she did manage to get a copy for me which took an additional 20 minutes.

Overall I have no huge issues with the stay. I always try to remember that the staff are working in uncertain times. It would have been great to have been kept informed of changes made to hotel policy. Especially when things like, using the gym, was actually a unique selling point of the hotel. And talking to other guests, not everyone was given the same information. What they need is a sheets of information in each room telling us what we can and can’t do and what they provide. Especially for the price. It’s not the cheapest hotel. It’s defiantly not 5* as advertised but it was fine.

✅ Once you arrive at the airport, you will need to proceed to a hotel like ours to get the PCR test conducted at the hotel. Once the test result is out, you will be able to leave the hotel or stay until noon next day, typical to a normal hotel stay.
