Thailand Flute Festival Competition 2023

Open Division (any age)

The Open Division is open to outstanding flutists of any age. 5 finalists will be selected based on their recorded round audition to compete at the Thailand Flute Festival Competition 2023.

Prize
1st prize: 10,000 THB cash
2nd prize: 5,000 THB cash
3rd prize: 3,000 THB cash
4th and 5th prize: 2 gift vouchers (1,000 THB)
will be awarded to the winners.

Competition Requirements:

Completed entry
Uploaded performance video and attach the link in the submission form
2,000 THB entry fee (paid during submission process)
All entrants must submit their entry, upload recordings/supplemental materials, and pay competition fees by 11:59 p.m. GMT+7, 28 February 2023.

The submission period is between 1-28 February 2023. The submission form will be available on 1 February 2023.

Recorded Round Repertoire
The video of your performance should be uploaded via Youtube.

Contestants must perform 2 pieces in the recorded round including

1. any movement(s) from any concerto or sonata from any era
2. a free choice of a classical music piece or movement from any era

*the total duration should not be longer than 10 minutes
All Recorded Round repertoire must be recorded with piano accompaniment or backing track except for unaccompanied pieces. The video must not be edited and also be recorded at once.

Final Round Repertoire
This repertoire will be presented at the Thailand Flute Festival Competition 2023 in Bangkok in the order of the finalist’s choosing. Finalists must bring a pianist at their own expense.

Finalists must perform 2 pieces in the recorded round including
Sonatine for flute and piano by Morakot Cherdchoo-Ngarm the music sheet must be purchased from https://morakotcomposer.com/shop/sonatine-for-flute-piano-score-part/?wmc-currency=THB
free choice of a classical music piece or movement from any era
* The total duration should not be longer than 20 minutes
* Finalists are required to submit the full score of their piece(s) via [email protected]m before 15 April 2023

* Competitions are subject to all rules and regulations. Incomplete entries will be subject to disqualification.

Senior Division (not older than 18)

The Senior Division is open to outstanding flutists not older than 18 years old. 5 finalists will be selected based on their recorded round audition to compete at the Thailand Flute Festival Competition 2023. Cash prizes of 5,000 THB, 4,000 THB, and 3,000 THB will be awarded to the winners.

1st prize: 5,000 THB cash
2nd prize: 4,000 THB cash
3rd prize: 3,000 THB cash
4th and 5th prize: 2 gift vouchers (800 THB)
will be awarded to the winners.

All entrants must:
Be born after 30 April 2005 (not more than 18 years old). Entrants may be required to show proof of age.

Symphonie fantastique is one of the most epic and radical pieces of symphonic music ever written. Berlioz describes in chilling detail his passion for a woman, his obsessions, his dreams, his tantrums, his moments of tenderness, ecstasy, and despair. This all-French program opens with Ravel’s Baroque-inspired Le Tombeau de Couperin. Our principal flute, Yu Jin Jung, will dazzle on Ibert’s colorful and demanding Concerto for Flute.

Side by Side with the Thailand Phil! This is your chance to perform live on stage with the Thailand Phil in Prince Mahidol Hall. Chief Conductor Alfonso Scarano will lead the orchestra in a concert of fun and familiar music.

There will be limited seats available in every section of the orchestra. Simply post a video to YouTube of yourself performing the required audition material. As many participants as possible will be chosen to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. All ages are welcome to apply. We are saving a seat for you!
