The book, launched on 22 June 2025, marks a significant contribution to critical discussions on refugee protection and humanitarian narratives.

Department of Development and Sustainability, Asian Institue of Technology (AIT)

In the past decades, Asia has experienced rapid economic growth. However, with climate change and volatile economy, both rural and urban low income populations are becoming increasingly vulnerable. Disparity and conflict across the lines of gender, religion, ethnicity, age and class are also widening. Under such rapidly changing environment, we need to foster more professionals who are able to effectively engage in addressing these issues and advocate for alternatives towards sustainable development.

AIT has been serving the region since 1959 as a leading regional postgraduate institution and is actively working with public and private sector partners throughout the region and with some of the top universities in the world. Our graduates are today leaders in various national and international organizations in public, private and non-profit sectors. We would like to keep this tradition by constantly offering new courses to meet the demands of sustainable development in the region.

Currently, our department (Department of Development and Sustainability) strives to generate knowledge and approaches to meet these needs through the following fields of study:
