FYI : Chiang Mai Governor Says Ping River Water Level Not Yet Concerning; Several National Parks Temporarily Closed, Public Urged to Avoid Risk Areas

May 26, 2025 — Mr. Nirat Phongsitthithaworn, the Governor of Chiang Mai Province, revealed that recent rainfall over the past week has caused forest runoff in upstream areas. As a result, several national parks, especially Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and areas in Samoeng, Mae Rim, and Mae Taeng districts, have been temporarily closed to prevent risks from flash floods. Authorities will assess the situation and consider reopening the parks when conditions are deemed safe.

The runoff has affected some communities, such as in Mae Taeng District where a landslide temporarily blocked mountain roads, disrupting local transportation. Authorities have since cleared the area and restored normal traffic flow. In Mae Wang and San Pa Tong districts, accumulated runoff caused the river to overflow in low-lying areas, but water levels are now beginning to recede. Cleaning operations are underway to restore the affected areas.

In Mueang District, officials have emphasized the importance of regularly clearing drains and grates to ensure rainwater can quickly flow into drainage systems and tributaries. Since the water level in drainage systems and the Ping River remains low, it is crucial to prevent surface flooding by allowing rainwater to drain efficiently. Daily maintenance is necessary because each rainfall can bring debris, leaves, and branches that clog drainage channels. Authorities have instructed all parties to regularly inspect and remove such obstructions to prepare for further rainfall.

The governor also urged residents in upstream areas to remain vigilant and avoid entering restricted zones due to potential danger to life and property. Current rainfall tends to occur in short, heavy bursts rather than continuous downpours, causing water to rise and recede quickly. As for the Ping River, the water level is still not high, and the situation is under control. Authorities are managing the water flow by operating sluice gates to accelerate drainage, helping to maintain safe river levels.

ผู้ว่าฯ เชียงใหม่ เผยระดับน้ำในแม่น้ำปิงขณะนี้ยังไม่น่าห่วง ขณะนี้อุทยานหลายแห่งปิดการให้บริการ เตือนประชาชนงดเข้าพื้นที่เสี่ยง
วันนี้ (26 พ.ค. 68) นายนิรัตน์ พงษ์สิทธิถาวร ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เปิดเผยว่า ในช่วงสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาจังหวัดเชียงใหม่มีฝนตกสะสมในพื้นที่ จึงทำให้มีน้ำป่าไหลหลากในช่วงต้นน้ำ ทางอุทยานต่างๆ ที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ต้นน้ำ โดยเฉพาะอุทยานแห่งชาติดอยสุเทพ-ปุย รวมถึงในโซนอำเภอสะเมิง แม่ริม และแม่แตง จึงต้องปิดให้บริการอุทยานไว้เบื้องต้นก่อน เพื่อป้องกันความเสี่ยงต่ออันตรายจากน้ำป่า หากน้ำลดลงแล้วจึงจะประเมินสถานการณ์และพิจารณาเปิดทำการตามช่วงเวลาที่เหมาะสมอีกครั้ง
โดยน้ำที่ไหลลงมาได้ส่งผลกระทบต่อพี่น้องประชาชนในบางส่วน เช่น ที่อำเภอแม่แตงมีดินสไลด์ปิดขวางเส้นทางจราจรบนดอย ทำให้ชาวบ้านสัญจรไม่ได้ชั่วคราว แต่ก็ได้ให้เจ้าหน้าที่เข้าไปเคลียร์พื้นที่จนกลับมาใช้เส้นทางสัญจรได้ตามปกติแล้ว ส่วนในพื้นที่อำเภอแม่วางและอำเภอสันป่าตองก็มีมวลน้ำไหลมารวมกัน ทำให้มีน้ำเอ่อล้นตลิ่งในเขตพื้นที่ลุ่มต่ำ ล่าสุดระดับน้ำได้เริ่มลดลงแล้ว และเตรียมเข้าสู่กระบวนการฉีดล้างทำความสะอาดให้กลับมาอยู่ในสภาพเดิม สำหรับในเขตอำเภอเมืองได้เน้นย้ำให้ทำความสะอาดท่อระบายน้ำและฝาตะแกรง เพื่อให้น้ำฝนที่ตกมาบนพื้นผิวจราจรไหลลงท่อระบายน้ำและลำน้ำสาขาต่างๆ ให้ได้โดยเร็วที่สุด เพราะน้ำในท่อและระดับน้ำในแม่น้ำปิงไม่ได้สูง ดังนั้นจึงต้องทำให้น้ำที่ตกค้างอยู่บนผิวจราจรไหลลงแม่น้ำให้เร็วที่สุด ต้องทำแบบนี้ทุกวัน เพราะเมื่อมีฝนตกลงมาในแต่ละครั้ง ก็จะพัดพาเอาเศษขยะหรือเศษใบไม้กิ่งไม้มาอุดตามช่องทางระบายน้ำ จึงได้เน้นย้ำให้ทุกฝ่ายหมั่นตรวจสอบและกำจัดเศษสวะเหล่านี้ออกจากช่องทางระบายน้ำอยู่เป็นประจำ เพื่อรองรับปริมาณน้ำฝนที่จะตกเพิ่มใหม่
ทั้งนี้ จึงขอฝากพี่น้องประชาชนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเขตพื้นที่ต้นน้ำให้เฝ้าระวังและไม่เข้าไปยังพื้นที่ห้ามเข้า เพราะอาจเสี่ยงเกิดอันตรายต่อชีวิตและทรัพย์สิน โดยฝนที่ตกในช่วงนี้อาจจะตกหนักเป็นช่วงแล้วสลับกับหยุดตก ไม่ได้เป็นการตกต่อเนื่องตลอดทั้งวัน น้ำอาจจะมาเร็วแต่ก็จะลดลงเร็วเช่นกัน ส่วนน้ำในแม่น้ำปิงขณะนี้ยังไม่สูงมาก ยังมั่นใจว่าไม่น่าห่วง ซึ่งจะใช้วิธีบริหารจัดการเปิด-ปิดบานประตูระบายน้ำต่างๆ เพื่อเร่งระบายน้ำออกไปให้ได้โดยเร็ว จึงทำให้ระดับน้ำปิงไม่ได้สูงจนเกินไป

May 16, 2025. Mr. Nirut Pongsitthithawon, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, has assigned the Chiang Mai Highway District 2 to prepare for the upcoming rainy season. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a significant increase in rainfall during this period, with the official start of the rainy season beginning on May 15, 2025.

Mr. Theerapong Khajondechakul, Deputy Director of Chiang Mai Highway District 2, reported that the department has taken proactive measures to prepare for the rainy season. These include inspecting and maintaining drainage systems on all routes under the district’s responsibility, and checking the operational status of all water pumps. The inspection results confirmed that the pumping systems are functioning properly.

Additionally, all areas identified as flood-prone have been carefully examined, and no flooding incidents have been reported as of now. Personnel have been stationed at risk-prone locations to monitor and respond promptly in case of prolonged or heavy rainfall, ensuring 24-hour readiness for flood mitigation.

วันที่ 16 พฤษภาคม 2568 ) นายนิรัตน์ พงษ์สิทธิถาวร ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ มอบหมายให้แขวงทางหลวงเชียงใหม่ที่ 2 เตรียมพร้อมรับฤดูฝน จากการที่ศูนย์อุตุนิยมวิทยารายงานสภาพอากาศ จะมีฝนมากในระยะนี้โดยเริ่มเข้าสู่ฤดูฝนอย่างเป็นทางการตั้งแต่วันที่ 15 พฤษภาคม 2568
นายธีระพงษ์ ขจรเดชากุล รองผู้อำนวยการแขวงทางหลวงเชียงใหม่ที่ 2 เปิดเผยว่า แขวงทางหลวงเชียงใหม่ที่ 2 ได้มีการเตรียมพร้อมรับฤดูฝน โดยการดูแลทางระบายน้ำทุกเส้นทาง ในพื้นที่รับผิดชอบของแขวงทางหลวงเชียงใหม่ที่ 2 และมีการตรวจสอบระบบปั๊มน้ำให้ใช้การได้ จากการตรวจสอบพบว่าอุปกรณ์ปั้มทำงานได้ตามปกติ ทั้งนี้ได้มีการตรวจสอบในทุกจุดที่มีความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดน้ำท่วมขัง ซึ่งขณะนี้ยังไม่มีรายงานการเกิดน้ำท่วมขังในจุดใด ในระยะนี้ได้จัดเจ้าหน้าที่ประจำจุดที่มีความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดน้ำท่วมขัง พร้อมดำเนินแก้ไขตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง กรณีฝนตกต่อสะสมเนื่องเป็นระยะเวลานาน.

-We have received an update from the insurance company about the information they need from you. Please send anything in this list that you have not already sent. Please use "Insurance Claim Room # # # " in your email subject line.
-It is important to note that the condo is not responsible for the process that the insurance company uses to decide which daims it will pay or how much it will pay. The condo is also not responsible for any costs not covered by the insurance company in individual condos.
-Please only make claims for possible structural damage to walls, floors and ceilings. The insurance company will not accept daims for personal possessions or other costs incurred.
-There has been a high volume of owner claims. Please be patient, as the condo management works with the insurance company through this process. The staff at the reception desk cannot change or hurry the process. The time they spend answering questions or listening to arguments from owners about the insurance process is time not spent processing your daims. We will provide further updates as we receive them from the insurance company.
-If you need to make repairs in your condo, provide pictures and contractor receipts in your claim.
-Claims need to come in by April 30th 2025
Please submit details of damages within the condo unit as follows:
1. Photo front of the room showing the room number (indicate the floor)
2. Photos of damages inside the condo (take wide-angle and narrow-angle photos to dearly show where the damages
are) sent through the juristic person's contact channels so that the insurance daim can be concluded.
3. Specify the size of the damaged area within the condo (damaged location according to item #2)
4. Copy of the ID card or passport of the condominium owner
5. Copy of condominium title deed, photocopy every page.
6. Damage repair quotation
7. If the owner has their own condominium insurance policy, please notify and attach your policy.
